Lawro to wave at Hammers fans at Anfield

MarkLawrenson1The self-styled arch enemy of West Ham who claims to be a BBC football pundit will be at Anfield today for the FA Cup fourth round tie.

Mark Lawrenson says welcomes any songs against him from the 3,000 strong Hammers contingent and says he also will give them a wave. It will come as no surprise that stubborn Lawrenson has predicted a Liverpool win this evening. Some things never change and usually his predictions bring us luck so I would be disappointed if he had predicted a West Ham victory, it would have been a bad omen for him to tip us.

Lawrenson told the BBC Sport website

“I am at Anfield for this game and expecting to hear a few songs from the travelling West Ham supporters who have been unhappy with my predictions – I will give them a wave,” joked Lawrenson. “The Hammers have beaten Liverpool twice this season in the Premier League with an aggregate score of 5-0, so they definitely know how to play against them.”

“The question is, will Liverpool have learned from what happened in those games? I don’t think they will be as bad as they were at Upton Park earlier this month. I also think reaching the Capital One Cup final will lift everybody in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, and bring extra competition for places. So I am going to go for a Liverpool win, which will really please my new West Ham friends,” he added.

  1. Sad sad man, does he understand that as a pundit he can go against his old club and no one will hold it against him,
Not giving honest opinions just shows how ign he is and as many Liverpoor fans laugh at him not with him,but when you come from Alaska because it’s such a big country it’s hard to know much about football,
A draw today would not be a bad result but I think with their defence we should do them unless we get another bent Ref,and I don’t mean gay

  2. He got 14 out of 16 predictions wrong the other week. Random selection of results with a pin would have done better

  3. If he was doing any other job he would be gone,we all need some younger pundits but not just more ex players who can’t go against there old clubs
IE Jenas got a good football brain on him but can’t get that Spuds mentality out of his mind and then there’s that bit of Newcastle blood running through him,
If I was a pundit I would have to give the result against the Hammers if that’s what the form and truth suggested, but Lawerson would predict Liverpoor to beat Barcelona away tomorrow probably by 2 goals even if in his sick brain he knew they would get murderedwith there defence,

  4. Well, I LIKE Lawro! And I delighted he’s causing some West Ham fans to twitch in their glittery gold high heels and sequined claret and blue tutus. Twitch away, girls!
I remember him alongside a commentator at a World Cup game, and when the commentator said of a near miss “All it needed was a little tap”, Lawro retorted “He should have been a plumber…”
You can wave at me anytime, Lawro: Look out for me in my bikini and whacking great man tits…”Which one amongst all that lot?” I hear you complain…”Good point…well, just wave to all us die hard big butch Hammers fans, and well wave our frilly hankies back”

  5. Agree that lawo is a complete to£ser but I am more concerned with the ref bubs , Atkinson is a poor ref , like 80% really ! He was letting decisions go the other night that should have been bookings McCarthy,s knee high challenge late on by the touchline received nothing !
But in general he was poor, as much as I loved Everton getting beat he was poor. Lucas , Flannigan , moreno , are the ones to watch as IMO they can ruin a players career, if they playof course ! Expect a physical game and hope they ddon’t target payet which I think they will !! If they start the dirty stuff then I hope we react in kind on their first steamers , at the death of course, we don’t want to be a man down to early ,!! We owe them one for 2006 don’t we , I hope that’s motivation for us !!
