Lawro’s prediction

Mark Lawrenson has unsurprisingly predicted a Hammers defeat this weekend against Chelsea!

The BBC Sport pundit almost routinely goes against the Irons and this week is no different, plumping for an away win for Saturday’s early kick-off.

The Hammers, of course, are looking to bounce back after losing to Wolves and Manchester City in succession and drawing with Brighton in midweek.

Chelsea, by comparison, are currently one point clear at the top of the Premier League table but were given a scare in midweek, as they needed to dig deep to beat Watford 2-1, having drawn with Manchester United last weekend.

And Lawrenson believes that Thomas Tuchel’s men will win again this weekend; they have only lost one league game this season, to Manchester City in September.

Speaking in his weekly BBC Sport column, Lawro said:“It looks like the international break has halted West Ham’s momentum because they have not won any of their three Premier League games since – and I don’t see them ending that run here.

“Chelsea were fortunate to win at Watford on Wednesday, and their manager Thomas Tuchel admitted it afterwards. I am expecting a reaction from them on Saturday – and a much-improved performance – because they rarely play poorly two games in a row.”

The Hammers lost both games to Chelsea last season but did the double over them in the campaign prior.

  1. Why do you give time to this bloke every week?
I doubt if anyone cares about what he says or writes.
