Nuno Espirito Santo is embroiled in a legal dispute with his former employers, Nottingham Forest, relating to his dismissal at the start of the season.
The West Ham manager has instructed lawyers to take on his former club, according to The Athletic. The precise terms of the dispute have not been revealed, but Athletic sources have described it as an acrimonious matter that highlights the bad feelings on both sides.
Nuno was sacked in September after 21 months in charge of Forest – and just three games into this season. He had only just signed a three-year deal in June last year.
Although reports suggested he was paid £2m per year at Forest, his real salary is thought to have been a lot more and as much as £10m over the three-year deal.
Nuno was only out of work for 18 days before he was appointed West Ham manager on 27th September 2025, on a reported salary of £3.5m per season.
Usually, his former club would be limited to the time their former manager was out of work, but it all depends on the specifics in the contract.
Nuno publicly fell out with Forest’s global head of football, Edu Gaspar, who is also on the verge of the sack from owner Evangelos Marinakis.
