Glenn Hoddle has named Mark Noble his leader of the year.
The former England captin reckons that Dimi Payet was a justfied Hammer of the Year but believes the man pulling the strings was the long serving skipper.
Writing in the Mail on Sunday Hoddle said: “Yes, Payet was West Ham’s player of the season — but all the while, quietly pulling the strings in midfield, has been their captain Mark Noble.
He was 29 last week and, as such, we do not expect him to make Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016, but he can consider himself unfortunate in that regard.
He has had a great season. It’s the unerring accuracy of his passing that is his outstanding feature. He sets the tempo of the game. It was such an important season for them going into the Olympic Stadium this summer. At the start of it, there were fears they might be doing so in the Championship.
But amid a great final season at Upton Park, no one can take more credit than Noble.
And Hodd adds that Pep Guardiola would be th Irons biggest fan saying: “One thing is for sure, Europa League football was not on his (Pep Guardiola’s) agenda when he signed for Manchester City.
He has managed for seven seasons and reached the Champions League semi-finals every time. I’m not sure he would know what the Europa League was.
You can imagine him, tuned into West Ham against Manchester United on Tuesday and giving the biggest cheer of all when Winston Reid scored that winner.”
Shame huddle was hounded out as England manager. He clearly knows his English mustard from his French. Unlike that clown Hodgson.
