Leeds enter race for big Hammers target

Leeds have entered the race to sign West Brom star Matheus Pereira, who is seen as an alternative to Jesse Lingard for the Irons.

We have reported that the Hammers are interested in snapping up the playmaker, who impressed in a relegated Baggies side last season.

The Hammers and the Baggies have held talks over a deal for Pereira but they have not gone very far.

And now, ESPN Brasil reports that Marcelo Bielsa’s side also hold an interest in signing the WBA ace.

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are both said to be interested too, as are German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Baggies value him at around £30m and he is said to be interested in moving to Leeds, though they have yet to make a bid.

We know that there has been dialogue between the Hammers and West Brom so if there is to be a deal done for Pereira, the Irons may well need to hurry it up a tad!

  1. I do like this player but at this moment, the feeling listening to rumours about us signing players like Barkley, Abraham etc is just one of lack of ambition and imagination from the club, the type of signings that just do not bring any excitement to fans. I really hope we sign the players that bring us to the next level because signing players like Barkley will only drive players like Rice out the front door. I will be so disappointed if Moyes is not true to his word and bring in young hungry players.

  2. Let Leeds have him. Overrated and not needed at any price here at West Ham. COYI

  3. It’s great to hear these rumours. However the facts are we have not signed a single first team player. The season starts in 3 weeks the board and Moyes need to get a move on as this is not good enough . There’s due diligence and there’s Darn right slow and We are the latter . Get your fingers out ⚒

  4. It’s a bit frustrating isnt it? We qualified for Europe and have barely signed anyone for the last 2 windows and yet Leeds and Villa etc are somehow more attractive to players and seemingly have more money! What’s going on there?

  5. Hurry it up and offer the full £30 mil upfront as Einfrachts offer is very close. Your running out of time.
