Leipzig scouts watch Oxford and Co v Spurs

Oxford – could he be set for a German return

Reece Oxford may have been at the centre of attention of RP Leipzig scouts who watched last night’s Under23s match between the Irons and spurs at Stevenage.

The German club – having been expected to mount a bid for the player last season when he was on loan at Borrusia Munchengladbach – had scouts in attendance sparking speculation that he could be on his way back to Germany.

There has been no official contact between Leipzig and the Hammers and the only interest in him so far has come from Bolton.

Wanderers want a deal which will we see them paying £15k a week of his reported £20k a week wage  but the Hammers will wait until the latest possible moment before they go ahead.

They are keen to see if there is interest from the German outfit or any of the other 40 odd league clubs – including virtually all those from the Championship – who were at last night’s game.

I’d have Oxford, Holland and Silva in competing for a place with the first team.

Holland definitely will if he stays fit, Silva scored some good goals but you can’t judge a player on a single performance against an awful spurs team as for Oxford send him back to Germany he has no interest in playing for us.

Oxford has shown no desire or ambition to be a part of our club. Knowing this, on what grounds would you include him in the first team squad? Also it is much too early to speculate on Silva. After one game in the dev squad?
