Leroy on Sunderland, Zaza and those yellow cards

LEROY (1)Obviously I couldn’t have been more pleased with last week’s win when at times we saw the team back to it’s very best with Aaron Cresswell playing a major part as I expected.

That he will not be on the pitch this weekend is a disgrace because  he was wrongly yellow carded twice in one of the most serious errors of judgement I’ve seen on a football pitch.

cresswell-aaron-cresswell-west-ham-west-ham-v-tottenham_3192011He should have had a penalty at the other end and for Zaha to get him sent off when all that happened was an arm across his face was disgusting.

If I’m walking down the street and someone puts an arm across my face I’m not gonna fall over.

It was ridiculous and horrible and the referee should be utterly ashamed particularly as he had denied him a spot kick two minutes earlier.

Beyond that we played some great football, scored a wonderful goal and had the luck we needed with a missed Benteke penalty.

So we come back to the London Stadium with plenty of confidence and I fully expect us to beat Sunderland – probably 2-0 – tomorrow.

We will go back to a flat back four in Cresswell’s absence with the two full backs pushing on and the two central defenders looking after the lone striker – Jermain Defoe.

I would expect that we will need to be patient but the plan AGAIN must be to get Payet and Lanzini on the ball as much as possible because they will have too much for the Black Cats defence.

Personally, despite the fact he ran about a bit more and some say he was improved, I’m not getting Simone Zaza one little bit at a possible £20 million.

For me £2 million would be too much, £200k or even a free. He gives us so little and simply has to score goals. That’s what a striker does for God’s sake. If he grabs a couple tomorrow I’ll happily eat my words but I can’t see t happening.

Sunderland will come to defend and hope that Defoe can capitalise on break aways but we should be too good for them. They have yet to win a Premier League game and I see no chance of that changing tomorrow.

  1. Trust me Leroy i can remember a few matches when i wouldnt have taken you on a free either,so i wouldnt look down on Zaza like you were bloody Marco Van Basten lol 😀

  2. Lmao yeah true Rad.Its funny how pundits seem to forget their own abilities or inablities themselves once the start in media work.
But i like Leroys write ups.We will win tomorrow & now i really hope Zaza scores 😛

  3. Spot on Leroy. Zaza doesn’t even look like a £2 million player so far. And just because maybe Leroy wasn’t the best striker it doesn’t mean he can’t spot a turd. The best managers in football failed as players.

  4. All i have ever read fom you jimmy jazz is inane comments & criticism of Zaza
So you dont rate him..ok thats not a problem but dont give it all this turd stuff..
I mean really youre a teacher??? I feel sorry for your students if you are so judgemental of them..

  5. Oh hear we go again..comments being deleted.this site is a joke!

    • I don’t think JJ is a West Ham supporter anyway ACSD he seems to come on here just to wind others up like a Spud supporter, either way he seems more interested in drawing attention to himself rather than making any rational case for his arguements, in the last thread he said he would support Zaza and here he is calling him a turd…

      • Yeah what was it he said the other day.He always gives west ham players his full support Lol
Yeah it looks like it calling one of them a turd.

        • I meant I give players my full support inside the stadium and for the full match. I’m not into booing west ham players. Why is criticising a player on an internet forum so offensive to some of you? As for teaching, it’s a job and I do it well. With my students I’m supportive and they like me. Here, I’m not working, so I can be blunt and give my opinion. What’s the deal with keep bringing up my profession?

          • Cheer Zaza on in the ground then call him a turd on forums. Now there is the thought process of a sharp mind 🙂

          • I didn’t say I cheer him in the ground. My point is quite simple Radai. If you engage your brain you might get it. All I’m saying is I wouldn’t give Zaza stick during the game, I’m not saying I’m singing his name.

          • Oh lighten up jimmy for god sake. You are racking up the insults though, congrats.
Where have we got to now.Numbskulls,Dimwits,Engage your brain,Dumbo.
You are on a real roll.Tbh i couldn’t really care what you think of Zaza.It makes no difference to me either way.You are too cunning with your switching of what you actually ment for me,you must have had Baldrick as your apprentice 🙂

          • Radai. LOL. Funny how I’m allowed to be insulted left, right and centre yet when I insult someone back it’s wrong. If you don’t care about what I have to say about Zaza, don’t read it or don’t reply. It’s VERY simple.

          • Youre right i shouldnt have wasted my time rising to your bait lol.
I never did trust anyone who has to emphasise words with capitals anyway. Its all very un-English old chap.I will have to go engage my brain watching ShaunThe Sheep or The Teletubbies instead of reading your wise words 😀

      • try to be original no 32. Dimwits like yourself have been using the same argument for a very long time. ‘I don’t agree with his opinion so he can’t be a west ham fan’. Try using something you can prove in future, try logic.

        • Haha JJ, I don’t mind being called a dimwit, as they say it takes one to know one. I don’t need to prove you are not a west ham supporter your posts haven’t once showed support for anything West Ham, this is why I think you are a spud in disguise, the truth doesn’t have to be original it just has to be the truth. Why are you always so critical of others, you have written off Zaza, are their any others in the team you wish to write off ?

    • Yeah Stunts i got blackballed for mentioning Leroys running style.Thats another on the ‘cant talk about’ list. Its getting big.Soon we will only he able to reply ‘yes’ or ‘no’ without getting deleted lol 😀

  6. Is there any point in commenting on here anymore,if it is humouress or a bit of a wind up it will just be deleted.
I dont know who the moderator is but they need to lighten up pretty quickly before no one bothers commenting anymore.I expect this will be deleted as well hehe

  7. Zaza started poorly yes, but he’s new to the league and it takes time to adapt. Palace he didn’t score but he played superb yet because he didn’t score he’s not good enough? I’m not being funny some of the strikers we’ve had over the years and just because there’s a big price tag on Zaza a lot of people dig him out. Firstly the prices of players can’t be compared to players 5 years ago. Look at Pogba for example £100 million does he look like a £100 million player? Do United fans care how much he cost? Not really! If he gets a few goals and has a steady season I think that will be good for him, don’t forget the other 10 players that haven’t been performing either up until Palace but they’re not being dug out like Zaza. Not every player is like Payet and Lanzini who hit the ground running. Look at Son for Spurs, £17 million i think they paid for him and last season their fans were calling for him to be sold. Now look at him player of the month and I think he was involved in something like 8 out of 9 goals.

    • Pogba is a flop at that money and I think you will find man utd fans do care judging by the fans who call in. I’m not basing that on the few games he played this season, but also his performances in the euros and in big european matches for Juventus. Very overrated player.

      • I know quite a few United fans and none of them seem to care what they paid for him. But again his Euro’s wasn’t great and he hasn’t started particularly well at United but at Juventus he must of done something right to warrant such a high fee. But just because he “flopped” in his opening 10 games doesn’t mean he is a “flop” judge a player once they’ve been given a chance to settle.

        • Juventus are a dominant team in a weak league. Even John O Shea looked world class at times when Man utd were winning titles. Whenever, Pogba played against a top team in Europe he went missing. Pogba is the kind of player who does a little trick and the crowd go wild, but then he gives the ball away. He’s the kind of player who looks good in the highlights but not in the 90 minutes. Kante is far superior to Pogba, he breaks up play, passes the ball well and intelligently.

    • I’m not digging him out because of the price tag. I’m digging him out because his control is poor, his shooting is abysmal, he’s slow, he lacks movement and he plays with his back to goal most of the time, but hey, at least he tries hard and wins a few headers.

  8. Jimmy Jazz for president… lol anyway, you’re right Eddie, the Big Brother is stricter than my old math teacher, she gave me a bad grave, regardless of what I did,.. loool 😀

  9. Agree with Leroy entirely for a change – I heard Ex-Referee Howard Webb on Talksport the other morning, pushing his book, he was asked by Ray Parlour about the Cresswell situation and he agreed that a yellow card should be appealed if it resulted in a Red Card, there are so many yellows it would be impractiacal to allow them all to be appealed – this makes sense!

What I don’t understand is why the Ref can’t own up to making a mistake – I suppose it’s a case of the Referee is always right even when he’s wrong and all that stuff and they’re worried about his position being undermined.

On Zaza, Leroy is spot-on, he’s going to have to improve dramatically – his touch is not good and you can’t really see that improving – there’s no way he is worth £20 million.

  10. what’s point the ref owning up, it wont change anything?

  11. Yes, I agree it makes no difference – just like Howard Webb on BT saying the Ref got that decision wrong. It makes no difference so what’s the point.

I heard yesterday on Talksport (it was a bit of a slow day all round) them talking about the Referees being interviewed after games to explain their decisions, but what can they say? ‘From my point of view it looked like a foul/penaltywhatever but now with the benefit of super slow-mo I see I got it wrong. But anyway, that’s the rough with the smooth so basically, tough!’ Again pointless!
