Leroy: ‘Winston can’t buy what he has at Boleyn’

|

LEROY (1)Winston Reid needs to stay exactly where is is – at West Ham United where he has become a hero.

It’s perfectly understandable that he wants to land the best possible deal at this stage of his career but he can never get anywhere else what he already has at the Boleyn – respect, admiration and is possibly the first name on the team sheet.

I have to say as well that I really don’t think he is a top four or six defender. I really don’t see Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal coming for him.

And even were one of them to do so, there’s no way he would be a first team regular and does he really want to spend the next stage of his career kicking his heels in the ressies now and again.

There are some things that money can’t buy and that is the sort of loyalty and fan base that Winston has at West Ham. Everybody loves the bloke from the fans to the chairmen who are obviously doing all they can to keep him at the club.

I know those fans. I didn’t have the longest career at the Boleyn but if I had stayed well I think I would still have been there at the end of my career and I’d love to be involved with the club  now, it’s a great club.

So my advice to Winston is this …get the biro out mate and sign away the next five years to one of the best clubs in the land because if none of the big boys are coming in for (you and perhaps even if they are) the Boleyn is the best bet for you.
