Right at the bottom of every problem Slaven Bilic has at the moment is Dimitri Payet.
His dip in form, his body language and the fact that he looks overweight is the main issue because didn’t Slaven say last season that the team was built around him.
If that’s the case – and there’s no doubt for me that it has been – what happens when he isn’t doing it? Answer: Exactly what we are seeing now – a football club on it’s way down.
The players are going onto the pitch, seeing he’s not performing and are totally unable to step up and make the difference. Things are now at a terrible situation and Slaven has until the end of the month left for me to put it right.
With Payet not doing it and not looking fit, Bilic has to take him aside and say: “You signed a five year contract – you are on mega money and are going absolutely nowhere.”
If he is allowed to leave it will send absolutely the wrong message to the other players that they only have to stamp their feet and the club will let them move.
NO…SLAVEN BILIC HAS TO BE UTTERLY RUTHLESS PARTICULARLY ON THE TRAINING PITCH – ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
To admit there’s a lack of intensity is shocking and for all the talk of a backroom team crisis, Slav is in charge, He’s the boss and right now he has to act perhaps as he never has done before.
Nobody can be taken as a prisoner. This is West Ham United and at the moment we look like a club going absolutely nowhere. The manager has to change that and Payet has to be his first stop.
The summer recruitment campaign was utterly appalling and runs the Payet problem a very close second of course as we brought in players who are neither good enough or have the right attitude.
I don’t want to keep hammering the bloke but Zaza was Slav’s pick but to still be supporting him as a decent player is incredible – he’s not, and like Payet looks like a player who wants out – get rid of him!
We all know Tore’s not good enough, or Feghouli and so many of the others. The summer was a shambles and whether you want to blame the board or not, the manager has the final say on signings.
So to sum it up, I believe Slaven should have until the end of the month and if nothing has changed then he should be allowed to leave to give a new man the chance of getting his January signings in.
People are already writing off a result at Liverpool and that should never happen before any football match but shows exactly where we are. Oh and by the way please don’t believe the Burnley match will be easy
They make the game horrible and will be incredibly difficult to beat so don’t be looking for easy points there. This is a crisis – a massive crisis.
I hope it ends well for Slaven but I fear for him. He has to be as ruthless as he’s ever been in his life for his own sake and ours.
Crisis, really? 5-1 is embarrassing yes, but too many people have forgotten our performances against Spurs and Utd (away as well I might add) were solid and created plenty of chances to score. How many teams with these run of four fixtures would be confident in putting in good performances…. very few, so let’s get real and remember the GOOD as well. Payet is probably in the top 10 creative midfielders in the world, and he plays for us. He has one last chance to get a 3/4 year contract at a massive club where he could really win something. Despite how Slaven deals with him, can we really be surprised if he leaves? He doesn’t owe us anything in the future. I do agree though that he looks less passionate, but how many really do at the moment?
Slavs the man, he knows what to do and I have full confidence in him. COYI! 🙂
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but may we should have been more savy in the Summer. This is a guy that wanted to play in the Euros and prove himself in the premier league. Maybe he feels like he has completed those challenges and it is time to move on. There is no excuse for a lack of effort during games and during the Arsenal game i was shocked that he did not make way. For me it was quite obvious that Noble and Payet should have been the players to make way. On current form these two should not be in the starting XI. We need to fill the team with effort, commitment and pace. Payed doesn’t have the first two and Noble doesn’t have the third and a midfield cannot carry both of them.
Rosy, you are spot on. Brutal but fair analysis. I’m looking at a picture of Paolo on my office wall… show me a single player we have that could hold a candle to him for workrate and passion. he would be ashamed to have put in some of the pathetic, lack lustre performanced we have seen this season. Firstly the players are at fault. If Slavan can’t either sort them out or replace them, then he is at fault. It’s as simple as that. There’s hope for Reid, Obiang, Ogbona, Kouyate… but beyond that I’m starting to make excuses for the players. Man up Slavan. Sort them out!
challenging for the top 4? bwahahahahaha
Hammer 56 I make you right. The so called experts always seem to think they know best. Give him a month so things may get worse? Some so called experts ain’t got the guts to say he should be fired now, but if he did get fired, at the end of the season they would be saying something different. At the beginning of the season we were supposed to be challenging the top four, now we are challenging to get out of the bottom four. With every game lost we are slowly sinking and we have no right to expect any point from any game unless we change a few things. Why has Billic allowed things to continue on the field with the players if he noticed that they were living off last season. Why continually pick Mark Noble if you know his level had drop considerably, then stating last week he is the leader the team Miss. Why has he never given Oxford a chance and now Samuelson. Billic is also the one that has lost direction, intensity and vision.
The Board have missed Thier chance , hope we don’t end up paying the ultimate price .
Away to Liverpool in our current form ; not much hope there .
Burnley at home is certainly not a given .
Even the gods are against us with that FA cup draw .
Anyone know if Nolan is still training with us? Just concerned that some might be following his lead and thinking it doesn’t matter about running or offering much you can still get picked! Especially if you Captain 🙂
Well said Leroy but I disagree on one point that you make. I believe that we need a change now, Slav has to go it’s not about him being a nice honest person or he wears Westham on his sleeve or he is a open person of which he is in all the above, it’s getting results wining games pushing for silverware pushing and building to take the title and a place in Europe. Can anyone see that happening now?
I fear for my club. Last season was fantastic and I like many were proud to be Westham supporters but was that success built on Sams legacy?
I like most Westham supporters care about our club we deserve success but I don’t see that happening unless there is change. I may be ruthless but it’s for a reason the reason being we need success do we want to be always second best or a laughing stock club that gets mugged off by other teams and supporters I say no.
Make him right. Don’t want Payet sold, but someone must have a word. His efforts to tackle, track back, hassle, block, etc are non-existent. Fine he’s creating all these ‘chances’ but you cannot play only 50% of the game.
Whether it’s Bilic, Noble, the assistants, Carroll, I don’t care. Clearly nobody has told Payet, Ayew and Lanzini what is expected of them when they aren’t facing the opposing goal. The last Arsenal goal on the weekend, 6 players couldn’t be bothered to even start a run back let alone bust a gut.
