In a breaking news report from ‘The Sun‘, it has emerged that Lucas Paquetá is now facing two additional charges from the FA, further complicating the ongoing investigation into his alleged betting irregularities. These fresh charges are described as so severe that the Brazilian star could potentially receive a lifetime ban when his case is reviewed early next year.

The reports suggest that Paquetá has denied the FA further access to his mobile phone after it was initially returned to him. Investigators had originally seized the device to examine banking details, call records, and messages. However, when the FA requested the phone again, following the emergence of new details which they wanted to check. Unfortunately Paquetá was unable to provide it, claiming he had discarded his phone and could no longer locate it.

The Football Association has since accused the West Ham midfielder of obstructing their investigation. The charges, first raised in May, now include two counts of aggravated non-cooperation.

To the Tower! Nah, not really. What harm has it done? Relieved a gambling firm of a few thousand pounds; so what.

Last autumn, the FA retained Paqueta’s phone for approximately eight weeks to examine his call logs, messages, and bank records. During this time, Paqueta acquired a replacement phone. After the original was returned, he discarded it, a decision the FA claims has complicated the investigation and led to two new allegations against him. It is unclear why the FA requested the phone again if they already possessed the evidence. The introduction of new charges seems questionable, given the phone’s unavailability.

According to SunSport, the FA sought further access to the phone to verify additional information, but Paqueta was unable to locate it. This development appears to weaken the FA’s case. Furthermore, the lack of any criminal charges or police involvement raises some BIG concerns about the FA’s handling of the situation. This smells of BS, throw it against the wall and see what sticks!

thats rubbish they would have downloaded everything from the phone

That’s exactly what I thought. If they had it and didn’t that’s on them.
This is the trouble with administrators when they’re spending money that’s not personally theirs. Free and easy with the petty cash while extending the boundaries of stupidity.

The FA are a joke….go after some real cheats…the refs would be a good start.

Just get Man City’s lawyers on the job

  • John Ayris says:

That one won’t hold a lot of water. Given full access to a phone but didn’t examine it fully is an FA failing not a failure to produce.

Paqueta is a multi millionaire who can afford top counsel, he’s not the non league bloke that received a lifetime ban. His briefs will drive a coach and horses through anything watered down like that.

  • Thom Ridgeway says:

Who the hell are they to take his phone anyway. What are the FA, Gestapo? Are the police involved, if so why has he not been arrested or put on bail.. They have to prove there is actual hard evidence in the first place; why should anyone give them the rope to hang themselves! Have all our human rights gone? I’m with Lucas on this one.

  • John Harrison says:

Encouraging news perhaps for Paqueta and West Ham. The FA seems to have messed up after he complied and gave them his phone. It’s entirely plausible that he has since got a new phone. People do. They don’t seem to have enough to prove a case against him.

  • Galleywood Hammer says:

Given the FA’s astounding levels of incompetence re the 115 Man Citeh charges this is hardly surprising… clutching at straws certainly seems appropriate… smfh….

  • Nelly says:

Soooooo they took his phone, found nothing then returned it. Now the FA want it back because of “new” evidence. Either they are very inept or setting Paqueta up for a trumped up obstruction charge knowing he will not give it back to them. Don’t blame him one bit for denying access. They should’ve checked his phone properly or kept it for analysis due to hearing next year and issued him a new one.

    • Bennyboy baker says:

The FA say there are new incidents that they want to check on paquetas phone surely they would have done a in-depth check when they had the phone so if there was anything on there that would raise questions they would already have any evidence to support their claim if they believe he has done the things they are accusing him of then present it and let a decision be made this has dragged on too long it’s having a negative effect on him I believe the FA looking for someone to carry the can for their incompetence

      • Carrick hammer says:

He is right withh the law he gave his phone they gave it back he is entitled to do what he likes with it .no judge In the land would side with them

  • Neil Down Under says:

Sounds like they’re clutching at straws.
Surely if they had concrete evidence the charges would have been brought already and contested.

I would not be surprised if it’s gotten to the point that the FA have made such a big deal out of this, spent large sums of money investigating, and now must try for any kind of result to try and save face.

Of course it’s possible Paquetta is guilty, but if no charges are brought or the case is thrown out, I hope he goes after them.

It’s been dragging on for so long now.

  • John simmonds says:

They’re really going to town on him aren’t they
