Lingard fee set to become far more realistic

|

Manchester United’s £20-£30 million price tag on Jesse Lingard is over the top and the Old Trafford club are likely to have to settle for much less once negotiations get underway.

That is affected by his slip from the highs of his opening games and missing out on the Three Lions Euro squad.

At 28 years of age and with just a year left on his deal |United will be having to settle for something closer to £15 million according to agents well known to Claret and Hugh.

With covid still a problem on finances  the two clubs will also need to organise a payment instalment system which  takes account of difficulties on both sides

Despite a story in the Sun claiming the attacking midfielder wants to stay at the club, senior sources at OT have made it clear to us that a West Ham switch is the more likely outcome.

However, nothing is likely to be sorted until after the Euros with David Moyes involved as a technical consultant at the competition.

Several agents have told us they believe a fee of between £15m – £18 million is far more realistic with personal fees over three years to be organised at around £100k a week with one saying: “Anything more than that is OTT at Jesse’s age given his lack of football over a year.”

I’m a Man U fan as I live outside of greater Manchester..also known as a cockney red 😉 but I would say take 18 mill for him realistically.loved him a few years ago especially when he danced all over the Emirates 😂 let the boy play his football wherever he wants 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • William Livens says:

Lingard while playing for the Irons looked really well! The £20 million first quoted was I think realistic. You cannot see him playing , in a united team with the player’s that they have..
However you cannot blame them for trying to get more money

  • GaryD says:

If ManU are really chasing Sancho, Lingard will drop further down the pecking order. No point beating a dead horse, he will leave for some money now, or nothing later.

  • DJHammer says:

£8-11m is a fair price, as he can sign as a free agent in January on a pre contract abroad.
Take it, or lose him for nothing! He’s closed the market on his destination anyway, so be grateful you’re getting anything.

On a side note, outside of Greater Manchester, you’re club is known as Man U, there’s too many other clubs with united on their badge to think otherwise.

didnt we just have our highest turnover ever last seqason despite covid?

20 mil is about right given his form for us, and we can get 3 seasons out of him.

  • Andy says:

Its also down to the player!
If he is only going to go to the hammers then open market prices go out the window ( remember pyatt)!

  • LosMatillos says:

Good try Steve – he’d be a good asset at United and appreciated like he was last year playing in the ‘reserves’

  • The Cat says:

Lingard at 28, who was left to rot in the Man U reserves by a manager who clearly doesn’t rate him. Who is currently at his peak……NOT approaching it……
WHY would he stay to be a squad player with a known quantity of a manager???
Common sense tells me that he leaves Man U asap in a better environment where he can enjoy playing football, for a manager who actually wants him……not as some bargaining or bartering chip….. £60M…wow, did you miss the pandemic?

  • Steve says:

Nice try but why would United sell a player with so many goals and assists in just a few months, for so little? We may as well let him come back as a valuable squad player. He’s much liked in the dressing room. He lost his way for a while due to personal reasons and the likes of Pogba, Fernandes and Greenwood in his way. He would have been a great asset to United when they flagged at the end of the season. His age isn’t a big issue. He has pace is always full of energy, looks after himself and will probably play on for another 5-6 years. So pay £60 million or let him be fully appreciated elsewhere, including at United.

    • Darren says:

      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Steve said 60 mil

    • KS says:

Cobblers… Man Utd won’t ‘appreciate’ him, he’d largely play from the bench. He started at West Ham on fire but cooled significantly over the last half dozen or so games and was no surprise whatsoever that he didn’t make Southgate’s squad.

    • Toby Sampson says:

Looooooooool United will sell him cos he don’t want to stay there, why would he want to sit behind Fernando’s, pogba, van de berk and kind of greenwood, when he can come back to the only place he’s been happy for a couple of years and be the king??? Your argument contradicts itself. He wasn’t appreciated at united, that’s why hell come. And 60million? Don’t be a chugnut

    • Paul Narramore says:

Haha! 60 million???? He has 1 year left on his contract and has already explained he wants regular football which would help his international career. He won’t get regular football at man utd and with a year left he could go for nothing. Get a grip!!!

    • Diamond Geezer says:

He’s a player at the prime stage of his career, and no matter how much Man Utd may be ‘in his blood’ or they may still regard themselves as ‘the greatest club in the world’, sitting on the bench for 90% of games won’t make want to stay. Why would he, when he can get regular game time elsewhere? The factional nature of United’s dressing room – is Pogba flavour of the month again yet? – probably doesn’t match up to the camaraderie he found at West Ham, where he was instantly valued.

Any player entering the last year of a contract won’t command £60m and you’re deluding yourself to think otherwise. It might not be West Ham for him next season, but it’s even less likel6 to be Old Trafford.

    • mooro66uk says:

You mean fully appreciated like he has been for the last few seasons? Ah yeah, that’ll convince him to stay.

  • Alex says:

15-18m is a fair price anything more is an over payment hope we can get this done quickly. So we can focus our efforts on a striker!
