Lingard in social media backlash

Social media is in meltdown on the news that former Hammer Jesse Lingard could join Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old flew from Manchester in a private jet to Biggin Hill last night and is thought to have met up with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at his London home.

Reports suggest that the Premier League new boys are prepared to offer Lingard up to £200,000 per week made up of a signing-on fee, wages, and bonuses that would meet his huge wage demands.  West Ham is reported to be unwilling to match those demands and Moyes could fail in his attempt to be reunited.

Good luck to Jesse and Forest – signing Lingard will be a real sign of intent by both the owner and manager of their intention to stay at the highest level after 20 plus years out of it.

The former Manchester United player has come in for a lot of grief on social media for seemingly putting money over football but if we are truthful we would all accept an offer of £200,000 per if offered  to us.

His family and agent are only doing their job by maximizing his earning potential in what could be his last professional contract of career and who can blame them?

To be fair it would be hard for Jesse to exceed expectations at West Ham, after scoring nine goals and making four assists in sixteen appearances while on loan.

Anything less than that tally could be considered a failure by supporters so it might have been hard to live up to expectations.

  1. Lets hope that Forest wrap this transfer up quickly ..😉

  2. Glad it’s over ?

  3. like you say he is prioritising cash over football, if he signs a contract at Forest no other club will pay him that kind of money and nor should we, it would upset all the other players wondering why they aren’t on similar. In my job we say it’s better to have a hole in your team than an a hole in your team. Jesse fits the latter category for the way he is acting.

  4. He deserves a backlash for mucking all of the clubs around that would like him to join… entitled fool, as fans when he was in a bad moment we lifted him and his reward is to muck us about, we don’t want him or need him, Moyes is making us look weak by dragging this farce on.

  5. good, at least a decision has been made, lingards a great player, but hes not bigger than the club, move on west ham, back to sarr and dennis please.

  6. I really hope Lingard doesn’t sign for us but you have to fear for Forest because if they should get relagated after making 12+ new signings & with his £200k wages a week hanging over them they could see themselves in serious difficulties, & where does the FFP come into this, Forest’s attendances are nowhere near high enough to cover this sort of spending.
Time to move on now & concentrate on Sarr / Dennis / Onana now before Forest / Newcastle beat us on these players aswell,

  7. Your report supporting JL is a disgrace as is the player. Good riddance. Money talks and is is one greedy……….. er. Clearly has no ambition apart from a bank balance. Hope he gets everything he deserves (nothing) and a West Ham welcome we can all be proud of. I am sure it won’t be one he will enjoy though. Disgraceful JL. You have nothing……
