Jesse Lingard seem unlikely to become a deadline day signing for the Hammers.
The free agent has been training with the Hammers and speculation has been keen that he could join the club after his fine loan period with us the campaign before last.
However, he chose to join Nottingham Forest where he had a less than average season making just 17 Premier League appearances failing to score in any other than two Cup games
There have been varying reports on his fitness levels but the latest word we are getting is that he is not at the level which would earn him a deal with the Hammers.
One can’t entirely rule it out as manager David Moyes is a huge fan of the player at his best and could make an 11th hour decision to take a chance on the midfielder.
However, our main source told us: “As things stand he really doesn’t look to be up to the fitness level required.”
I read a week or so ago that Jesse was impressing in training. He won’t have had a pre-season, so it might have to be a run out against Lincoln City and in the Europa League to help progress hit fitness levels. He’ll be OK.
He doesn’t need to sign today, he’s a free agent. Ex said it looks like his signing will be confirmed before the city game
I said he is a free agent but would not be a deadline day signing???
He doesnt need to be signed by deadline day as he is a free agent,
Free agent, so assume not restricted by the transfer deadline so could still join if we needed him for cover eg Cornet left?
He is a free agent, so can sign after the window closes. This is a decision for another day.
I said he was a free agent and wouldn’t be a deadline day signing!
