Jesse Lingard’s goal against Wolves on Monday night was just like Diego Maradona’s Goal of the Century against England, according to talkSPORT pundit Darren Gough!
The Argentina legend scored one of the best goals in the history of the World Cup back in 1986, dribbling his way through almost the entirety of the Three Lions team to put the ball into the back of the net.
On Monday, Lingard dribbled from his own half into the Wolves third and put the ball beyond Rui Patricio.
He also laid on the assist for Jarrod Bowen’s goal, and played a key role in Pablo Fornals’ strike with a magic touch by the corner flag prior to Arthur Masuaku’s cross.
Gough was blown away by the skill shown by the Manchester United loanee, believing that it was just like watching the Argentina legend!
He said: “Lingard, the form he is in, it was like watching Maradona yesterday!
“He got the ball, was running with it at his feet, and they couldn’t catch him. So quick, the trickery, direct… everything.”
Lingard has been unbelievable in his time at the Hammers, scoring six goals and laying on four assists in eight league games.
