Lingard reveals his West Ham secret

|

Jesse Lingard has revealed he once had a trial at West Ham as a nine-year-old and scored his first Hammers goal against Spurs.

Earlier this month Lingard and his Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford took part in an England  ‘roommates’ quiz where the two answer questions about one another to see who knows the other best.

In this quiz, Lingard told Rashford that his first West Ham goal was actually against Spurs and not his opening strike at Villa Park.

When I was younger I went to West Ham on trial, when I was nine,” he said. “I scored my first goal.”

Rashford asked who it was against and Lingard gave an answer that Hammers fans will love: “Tottenham.”

So not only is Lingard back at the club he represented as a young boy, but he started his West Ham career off in style scoring against the Hammers rivals, something he would go onto replicate almost 20 years later.
