Report: Lingard to join Gerrard’s club for training

|
Jesse Lingard’s hopes of joining West Ham look dead in the water this morning (Sat).

Fabrizio Romano has taken to X (Twitter) to claim that he has now joined the Steve Gerrard-managed Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq on a training basis.

He has apparently been offered a month at the club after yesterday revealing that he was on his way to Dubai.

Gerrard, like Moyes, will now have a decision to make but it looks certain that the hammers are no longer involved.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Jesse Lingard has joined Al Ettifaq on training valid for one month — as he’s still available as free agent. Up to Lingard and Ettifaq if they want to proceed together, Steven Gerrard will be key to decide too.”
Our own London Stadium insiders had not believed a deal was on but the decision – should it have been made now – was entirely in David Moyes’ hands.
And on the basis of the Dubai trip and Romano’s tweet it seems that the West Ham interest is now over.
