Lingard update – Irons pursue loan option

|

West Ham continue to pursue negotiations to sign Jesse Lingard including the option of a loan.

David Moyes is a big fan of the England international and wants to bring him to the London Stadium.

The two clubs are now in talks but the deal has not yet been done. Claret and Hugh now understands that the deal could be completed as a domestic loan but  Manchester United want a sizeable  loan fee

For a loan to happen the Hammers would  make either Craig Dawson or Said Benrahma’s permanent before the window slams shut. West Ham have a £2-£3m option on Dawson while taking a £21.75m obligation to buy on Benrahma.

Should a loan fee be agreed personal terms still need to be agreed with the player who has fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lingard’s contract expires in 2022 and it is clear he is not in the Norwegian’s plans at Old Trafford.

Lingard has not played at all in the Premier League this season and  is on the hunt for regular first-team football.

Lingard did play a key role at the 2018 World Cup and he has made over 200 appearances for United, scoring 33 goals and registering 20 assists.

Expensive bench warmer. Who would he displace?
Perhaps thinking ahead to European play?
Would not be my priority – in fact as others have said, we should be in no rush to sign anyone.

Personally i would like to see this deal happen. He is still only 28, has champions league experience, would be one of the only squad members to have actually won a trophy and has even played a big role in getting England to world cup semi finals. He has lost his way the last couple of years but with reported things going on off the field is it any wonder. He has ability and works hard, whats not to like. If Moyes is after him that is all i need to know.
