Lingard’s dreadful 2023

It really has been a dreadful 2023 for a certain Jesse Lingard who double tracked on a move to West Ham before trekking to Saudi Arabia and failing to find a club

Who can forget all the chatter about him when he was training with us and the talk about him signing for us again?

Now he truly is in limbo as it appears that he still has not found a club and his agent – his father –  is now touting him to Ligue 1 clubs.

The former England midfielder is still available after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season and has since spent time with West Ham, Al Ettifaq and DC United without managing to land a contract.

The former Manchester United star is now being offered to French clubs, including Lille, according to a recent article in Foot Mercato.

The cash strapped Lingard has now dropped his wage demands to €250,000-a-month when at one time at the City Ground he was reported to be earning close to that per week.

But the problem will be his non-EU status and the lack of such openings midway through the season.

No doubt he will probably end up chasing the petro-dollars in the Saudi League.
