West Ham United’s pursuit of Galatasaray forward Baris Alper Yilmaz has taken a significant turn with the emergence of Liverpool as serious competitors.

Only yesterday, the Turkish international was rumoured to have flown to London for Hammers talks, only for him to be lured away to Merseyside instead.

Yilmaz, who impressed at Euro 2024, has been the subject of interest from several clubs, including West Ham. The Hammers had been hopeful of securing a deal for the 24-year-old, who has been pictured in London amid the transfer speculation.

However, the latest reports suggest that Liverpool have made a concrete offer for Yilmaz, tabling a bid worth £25 million. This development puts West Ham in a challenging position, as they now face stiff competition from a Premier League heavyweight.

The Turkish forward’s versatility and impressive performances have made him a sought-after commodity in the transfer market. With both West Ham and Liverpool keen on securing his services, a bidding war could ensue, driving up the price for the talented forward.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham will be able to fend off the challenge from Liverpool and secure the signing of Yilmaz, who could be a valuable addition to their squad.

He is certainly a fine player, but the last thing we need is to be caught up in a bidding war.

Be awesome if we get him but can’t see it happening

IF liverpool want him, that’s where he’ll go.

Realistically, probably two new signings and one loan signing with at least two outgoing but as John Ayris suggests it’s laughable the number of player’s being linked to the club by would-be journalist’s and desperate agent’s hoping to profit from club’s looking to raise there profile and get a bargain at the same time. Having watched the mid-week friendly in Austria with all the change’s throughout it was overpriced at being free and can’t see that much difference today so best watch the highlights after would be my advice.

    Sullivan sell cheap not but

We cannot possibly seriously be in for all these players. The squad currently stands at 23 when were allowed a maximum of 25.

We can bring in two more. If we bring in more than two then those we already have need to start going to other places.

Yet we are linked to umpteen players who when most of them end up at other places as they inevitably must are said to have been poached, or have rejected us.

It’s ridiculous when the most we can possibly seriously sign is a handful.

We may have 23 players but those under 21 do not need to be registered in the 25 squad list and can play, so Luis Guilherme, George Earthy, Ollie Scarles and anyone else under 21 will not be registered as part of the 25 man squad. Only 8 of those 25 need to be classed as home grown

At LEAST 8 players need to be homegrown if you want a 25 man squad (not including under 21s John Ayris) as you can only have 17 overseas.

    • FrankieMacsBack says:

Despite my reply the other day you are still repeating the falsehood of us having a 23 man squad. Please explain where you get 23 when it’s only 20?

      • John Ayris says:

I’ve already typed out the complete list, I’m not typing it out every time the subject comes up just because you didn’t see it.
