Liverpool FC has submitted a planning application for a champions place style walkway almost identical to the one designed by West Ham for the Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this coming season.
On their official website Liverpool announced earlier this week
“Liverpool FC has today confirmed it is exploring the feasibility of creating a specially designed walkway featuring fan tributes at Anfield. The club has submitted a planning application providing further details on the proposed scheme, which would enable supporters to purchase a personalised granite stone in the Main Stand’s new public realm.”
Granite stones for West Ham’s champions place start from £60 and rise to £499 which can be purchased from https://www.championsplace.whufc.com/book.htm
I suspect this will be the first of many clubs copying the idea.
I’m afraid West Ham nicked the idea themselves. I’m an Architect and have used the exact same idea for a museum project, and I for the idea from another project before me. It’s quite a common way of raising extra money.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery!…Now then, how about a 30 foot statue of Billy Bonds? Glaring down, defying away supporters as they pass!
If the OS (or ‘London’ Stadium as we are now should to call it) is supposed to be our home, and we can have a Champions Place etc, why not a big **** off statue too?
I will never feel happy until our longest ever serving players (let alone all his other stats etc) gets properly recognised at OUR NEW HOME.
