Liverpool poach Academy player
We have appeared to have lost another Academy player, this time to Liverpool.
ExWHUemployee has reported that the 16 year old Amaro Nallo has just signed a five-year deal at Anfield after turning down a contract offer to stay with the Hammers.
I must confess that I knew very little about the young centre-back but it seems that Nallo is a player who was being rated highly by the club’s academy staff.
Nallo is a left-footed defender and would have been eligible to receive a professional contract at West Ham in November when he turns 17.
I don’t understand the thinking behind the move though, as if he wants to break into the first team , he is going to find it far more difficult to at Anfield than with us.
On the other hand it shows he must be highly promising to interest Liverpool in the first place.
They should all be made to read Mark Noble’s autobiography. Having him with his story and legacy around the AoF is really valuable to the youngsters.
We really shouldn’t sweat about losing academy players too much, it happens. However I can’t help notice that Sonny Perkins looks as miserable as sin in his head shot on the Leeds website. Too early to say if he made the right move or not, but I do think he was highly thought of here and what these kids need to remember is that skipping to a new place means establishing yourself in the pecking order of talent where the competition will be doing you no favours.
