Liverpool target underused Steidten to oversee Anfield project
West Ham is facing a looming challenge for the services of Director of Football Tim Steidten.
Liverpool are reported to be interested in hiring the German as part of their new restructuring process. Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the Anfield club has prompted a rethink from owners Fenway, who are looking to restructure the club.
Liverpool had explored the possibility of their former sporting director Michael Edwards returning to the club in a new capacity, but he has turned down the offer. This has led Liverpool to turn their attention to Steidten, who is a wanted man.
There is understandably some concern from West Ham fans surrounding this turn of events. Steidten has seen the club choose David Moyes‘ selection of Kalvin Phillips ahead of his own suggestions. And to make matters worse, West Ham appears to be failing to recruit his number one target Ibrahim Osman.
Whether this will cause frustration on Steidten’s part is unknown. But perhaps if the Anfield club can offer him more autonomy than he enjoys at West Ham, then it would be understandable why he’d be tempted.
