West Ham are pushing ahead with plans to sign Liverpool and England U21 midfielder Tyler Morton.
Despite earlier suggestions that the Hammers had shifted focus to alternative targets, Team Talk are now reporting that Graham Potter has made Morton a priority signing this summer.
The Liverpool academy graduate has impressed during loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, but it’s his standout showings for Lee Carsley’s England U21s that have really caught the eye. Morton played a supporting role in the Three Lions’ triumphant Euro campaign but only the Hammers are heavily linked to him.
Now it seems that West Ham could land the 22-year-old for a cut-price £16 million, with Liverpool looking to raise funds quickly.

Liverpool will sell Morton & Elliott
Arne Slot is splashing the cash in a bid to rebuild at Anfield—and the Merseysiders are said to be preparing a blockbuster £150m bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
That deal could set off a domino effect to spark a transfer merry-go-round. Newcastle have had a £70m offer rejected for former West Ham target Hugo Ekitike, currently at Eintracht Frankfurt, and are expected to return with an improved bid.
With Liverpool keen to fund their swoop for Isak, the likes of Morton and Harvey Elliott may be offloaded swiftly. And that’s where West Ham could take full advantage.
I feel sorry for the Liverpool duo if they do come to West Ham because that will be the end of there England career’s as Carsley hates West Ham
Really hope we push the boat out and get Elliott. I’m sure Morton is a fine player but as already noted, Potts is a similar type of player. Elliott is a top talent and can play number 10, out wide either side and even a bit deeper in midfield. Having said all that, we also desperately need funds for a centre forward, cover at right back and a new keeper so it may be we can’t afford him.
Hope not. 2 average seasons in the championship, not quick and we already have Potts, Earthy, Orford.
Big difference playing prem football and playing well against u21s it isnt really comparable. definitely not the answer and overpaying because hes at liverpool and played u21s.
Didn’t know that, how did that come about then?
Oh stop it!
In an act if self preservation I’ve not allowed myself to hope.
“No money for transfers”, “sell before we buy”, not exactly a call to arms is it?
But now, just possibly, maybe, outside chance, West Ham could be making some shrewd investments, deals on players that have flown under the radar.
Youth team players with the potential to be the next Dec or Noble.
Damn you C&H, damn you to hell!
Hope returns, ready to allow dreams of the season ahead.

And so another one succumbs to the realization of what it means to be a hammers fan.
If true why not take the opportunity to get Harvey Elliot discounted also ?
This move seems strange (if accurate). From what I’ve seen of Morton, he looks similar in position and style to Alvarez/Potts. This would give us yet another DCM and still no real ‘legs’ that was an obvious issue last year?! Would have to assume that this would pave the way for Alvarez’ exit?!
