Loan Deal Uncertainty Follows Solers Eyewatering Wages

West Ham United‘s decision to sign Carlos Soler on loan was influenced by financial constraints. The club’s inability to afford Soler’s high wages at Paris Saint-Germain has limited the deal to a temporary arrangement.

At first, many believed the deal was to be a season-long loan with a €20m option to buy. However, Steidten revised that offer and switched it to just a traditional loan.

Soler’s £240,000-a-week salary at PSG (nearly double our highest earner!) has  made a permanent transfer just about impossible for West Ham  The club’s decision to cover half of his wages during the loan period was a strategic move to acquire his services without committing to a long-term deal.

Carlos Soler is a talented midfielder who can contribute to West Ham United’s success. However, his future at the club remains uncertain. A permanent move would require significant wage concessions from Soler, which may be difficult to achieve.

The Irons will need to assess Soler’s performance during the loan period and determine whether they want to pursue a permanent transfer. If Soler impresses and is willing to accept a lower salary, a permanent move could be feasible. However, financial considerations will continue to play a significant role in any potential negotiations.

If Steidten and Lopetegui wish to make the deal permanent, Soler would have to forgo at least half his wages to get a permanent move to East London. With what will be two years left on his contract , he might have to forfeit £12m in wages in that period to secure a move.
