London Stadium pitch survives Guns N’ Roses

GunsThe London Stadium Desso Grassmaster million pound pitch has survived the June music concert season of four music gigs which saw up to 300,000 concert goers trample and drink on top of the multi-purpose pitch.

Depeche Mode, Guns N’ Roses and Robbie Williams all played there over four summer nights with heavy equipment, light rigs, stages and speakers all hauled in and out.

Signature Systems Europe provided modular temporary flooring which protected the pitch while letting it breathe and allowing some light in.

This week the tempory flooring was removed and stadium operator groundsmen were impressed with the state of the pitch underneath. It is currently undergoing a small amount of minor restoration but a source close to London Stadium 185 told ClaretandHugh today: “The grass looks very green considering and you will be impressed with the condition when you see it at the Anniversary Games this weekend”

  1. The source doesn’t know what day it is! The Anniversary Games are next weekend. On Sunday the stadium hosts the Great Newham Run

  2. lol Maybe he meant Newham Run, to be fair I took him on his word that the anniversary games were soon. Either way the grass needs to ready for this weekend even for Newham residents to run around
