London Stadium power figures soar

|

London Stadium electricity costs have increased by almost 50 percent in the last twelve months E20 Stadium have confirmed.

The stadium owners paid £1,297,238.27 for electricity last year with an increase to £1,938,458.43 in the last twelves months, an increase in the cost of 49%

The stadium consumed 9,699,140 kWh of power in 2020/2021 which increased to 12,121,179 kWh in 2021/2022 an increase in consumption by 25%.

In a freedom of information response to Claret and Hugh this morning the public body says West Ham are charged a proportion of electricity, water and heating and cooling costs for
their office and retail use.

They do not pay a proportion of any other Stadium energy costs. The charge to West Ham for electricity is based on actual consumption derived from meters
located in the West Ham concession areas which are their offices and retail areas, plus the Directors and Players’ lounges and the managers suite.

The charges for water and heating and cooling are based on the proportion of electricity consumption in West Ham areas to the total consumption for the Stadium.

West Ham were charged £45,944 for power in the 12-month period 1 May 2020 to 30 April 2021. They were subsequently charged £49,936 for the 8-month period 1 May 2021 to 31
December 2021.

They have been charged more for the recent eight  months than for the preceding 12 months due to a combination of increased consumption and higher rates, particularly for electricity.
