Look to true leaders Bill and Mooro tomorrow lads

Bonzo and MooroIt’s been one of the greatest privileges of my long ife to meet many good footballers and to work with two who became  friends – Mooro and Bonzo!

These two were almost inseparable in my book as leaders and I was reminded when talking to Bill yesterday afternoon that leadership comes in many forms.

Both Bill and Bob shared the same quality – a quiet delivery and the ability to cut to the chase in seconds – don’t beat around the bush with these guys. they smell bs mile away and they hate the star effer thing.

Both  were blessed with extraordinary football giftings but I have  never heard a boastful or even swear word out of either.

It just happened that alongside those abilities came the quiet leadership qualities that led them both to greatness.

It was never an overpowering thing – just a simple quality of being able to communicate quietly and with immense authority.

How we need just one like either of them right at this very moment. Guys who knew how to inspire both by words and actions on the pitch.

They will both be there tomorrow on our ClaretandHugh flag which will fly proudly inside the London Stadium for the first time as we head into the most vital of vital games.

We would ask the players to adopt the Bill and Bob attitude  – two guys who didn’t know the meaning of the word loser!

  1. I honestly think they broke the moulds, after Mooro & Bonzo were born , Hugh??? Do you see any great team-leaders out there in our Money-washed Premier League???
For us, it’s perhaps time for born Hammer to stand-up and be counted: Mark Noble, this is your stage, if you want it….become that leader. COYI

  2. Apart from Mr West Ham aka Mark Noble I thing Michel Antonio always gives 100 percent & could become the new Mr West Ham & hopefully show the others how it should be done.
Let’s hope they both can galvanise the team this Saturday

  3. I’ll second that one, Claret!

  4. Yeah Michail has shown his heart, guts, courage and ability – should he sign the new deal he’s a massive candidate

  5. I’ve seen that photo before. It always make me feel sad for Bobby.

    • About 6 months before that picture was taken I can remember Bobby Moore and Alan Mullery celebrating beating West Ham 2-1 in the League Cup at the Cottage, in front of the West Ham support. I don’t think many of us that were at both games felt sad for him.

  6. This is what makes me proud to be a West Ham fan. Chelski refer to JT as a legend. Enough said.

  7. That’s it in a nutshell . We do not have a captain who leads by example . We have a headless chicken who is not good enough to be in the team . How can that be inspirational to the rest of the team . Bilic’s love of Noble is the route cause of our current problems .
