West Ham board to discuss Julen Lopetegui’s future

West Ham United will hold an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss and decide the future of under-pressure Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui.

It had initially been suggested this morning that the board would allow the Irons head coach to try and turn things around for the next game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, C&H spoke to our top source at the club this morning, and it is clear that no such decision has been made.

The club is still gathering as much information about the last few days as possible and, of course, will look to speak to people within the club to try and get a steer on how things have gone so badly wrong.

Whilst the club would not confirm the precise make-up of Friday’s meeting to decide Lopetegui’s future, it is believed that David Sullivan, Daniel Kretinsky, and Tim Steidten will all discuss how West Ham will move forward.

Mark Noble is expected to be consulted and perhaps has his ear to the ground more than others at the club. He will be fully aware of the current dressing room unrest.

Reading between the lines, as things stand, it will be hard for Lopetegui to last the week.

Sully doesn’t like spending money on managers any more than he likes spending money in the January Transfer window. We all know who the real problem is.

I’m 55 years old avid hammers fan from Cornwall,so fair bit of travel for game, the way I see it he got go team not happy with him, fans definitely not happy his style of football doesn’t suite west ham at all the sooner he goes the better well be, well hope so coyi get gone need a manager that understands

  • John butler says:

SULLIVAN is the real problem at west ham ,he has destroyed the club ,the sooner he is not running the club the better.BRADY is no better.

What a load of BS if you believe that Gonzo no doubt you will be gutted xmas morning when Santa doesn’t arrive! Do we really believe in this day and age it takes till Friday to get all the board members around Sully’s shining boardroom table….if they were going to sack him before Wolves they would have had a meeting over teams today and have done the deed already…it will be the new year at the earliest too much compensation for Sullivan to act now

  • Kenny Irons says:

Sick of reading this “turn it around “ cobblers ! Other clubs act when it is obvious they need change. So even if we beat Wolves. a team struggling like us, he’s turned it around has he ? Of course he bloody hasn’t ‘ the man is hopeless- shouldn’t need a board meeting for something so obvious- he should have gone straight after Leicester. This club couldn’t organise a **** up in a brewery 👎

    • Matt says:

Should’ve gone after Everton. Incredulous that he has survived after the Leicester.

Tells us everything we already knew about Sully though.

His ego and stubbornness is a joke just like him.

change or get relegated, clearly the manager is not suited to english football,he doesnt know how to set the team up to compete in the premier league, give potter a chance at least he understands the english game.

    • Bill says:

If its about money, which it normally is with our board then put mark noble in as caretaker manager with Kevin Nolan as his assistant and see how they go, they are west ham through and through and certainly know there way around the club. At least they would show you a plan unlike lapetigue. What have we got to lose. Ffs show some ambition give our army of fans something to cheer about.

    • Matt says:

Pathetic choice by a woeful Chairman.

  • SirAlfred says:

Sullivan has power of veto. Nothing will be changing for a while. We will throw away 6-9 points more before Sullivan’s pride is ready for a fall.

  • AndyB says:

It went so badly wrong when Sullivan ignored the advice of his DoF who warned him not to appoint JLo and recommended 3 progressive alternatives who all got vetoed.

Take a long hard look in the mirror if an internal reflection is required Sullivan at what went wrong.

Sky news is saying BEFORE Friday lets hope they are right

    • AndyB says:

Next thing you’ll be hoping that news on TikTok, Talksport and other dubious sources is true.

My advice is don’t be so gullible. Remember Sky Sports is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Fox News are hardly the bastions of truth and credibility.

  • Kip says:

WHY…what a load of bs …that’s it keep moving the goal posts..what’s going to change between now.and Friday…pathetic..absolute clowns 🤡…I knew this would happen..how much evidence do they need..ffs

  • Chicken Run news says:

I remain sceptical and suspect there won’t be any changes. I really hope I am wrong though. It also needs to be pointed out that waiting until Friday adds nothing. If the club need to carry out an investigation to determine what is wrong, then the are fundamental issues that exist all over the club. My preference is to get rid and do it now. If they intend to keep him though, they should back him 100% immediately and not dither, leaving the guy and his team demotivated to do anything worthwhile in the mean time. We are in danger of becoming the laughing stock of the league😒

  • Matt says:

So pleased C&H’s top source is giving us “pearls of wisdom” 🤣🤣🤣

Why we are waiting until Friday is ridiculous!

    • LORD ROBERT VENOUR says:

I agree if he’s for the sack he would be gone now sully will keep him welcome to the championship well Done the clown and troup that follows

  • AndyB says:

Tim and Kretinsky are not on the board tho? 🤔

Think it’s pretty certain Steidten, Noble & Kretinsly would all vote to get rid and end this disaster tbh
