West Ham United are in hot pursuit of Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport. The move comes as a surprise considering the Brazilian’s disappointing loan spell at Liverpool last season.

Arthur, 27, is a technically gifted player with a decorated past, including La Liga and Copa America titles. However, his time in England was forgettable, with just 13 underwhelming minutes under Jurgen Klopp.

Despite his struggles, West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui seems to be a huge admirer. Reports suggest Lopetegui even tried to sign Arthur for Wolverhampton Wanderers during his previous stint there.

It should be pointed out that Juventus seem to be linking West Ham with all of their players recently. There is a suspicion that the Serie A club are desperate for money, hence the links with Arthur as well as Soule and Kostic.

However, not everyone is convinced. There are valid concerns about Arthur’s suitability for the Premier League. His lack of physicality and struggles in a similar loan spell raise questions about his ability to adapt to the league’s demands.

Lopetegui’s faith in Arthur seems to be a key factor in this transfer. But whether the Brazilian midfielder can overcome his past struggles and thrive under Lopetegui at West Ham remains to be seen.

I think we might be looking at huge numbers for most positions but realistically we might be lucky to sign 1 for some of the positions. How many wingers but we will only get 1 . Its good to look at many options.

This would be another huge “Phillips” type of mistake.
For years now Arthur Melo has been struggling to show any worth to his club Juventus, who has preferred to loan him to other clubs, such as Liverpool etc.
He is returning to Juventus who cannot find a slot for him in their struggling midfield. What does that tell West Ham.
Hope this is just speculation, as we can ill afford another stupid signing, especially with our struggling midfield.
