West Ham United‘s appointment of Julen Lopetegui as manager has sparked mixed emotions. While some fans welcome a new chapter, others remain unconvinced after the successes of David Moyes.
Dean Jones, writing for GIVEMESPORT, emphasises the immediate need for Lopetegui to secure signings and appease the fanbase.
Under Moyes, West Ham enjoyed a period of European football, culminating in a Conference League title. However, a recent slump in form led to calls for Moyes’ departure, with fans expecting a high-calibre replacement. Lopetegui‘s arrival hasn’t generated the same level of enthusiasm, and Jones suggests signings are crucial to win over supporters.
Reports indicate West Ham are close to finalising a £13 million deal for Brazilian centre-back Fabricio Bruno.
The 28-year-old has impressed with Flamengo and recently earned his first cap for Brazil. Bruno could be the answer to West Ham’s defensive woes, having conceded the 17th most goals in the Premier League this season (as per WhoScored).
Securing Bruno would be a positive first step for Lopetegui, demonstrating his commitment to addressing weaknesses.
However, there is an elephant in the room asWest Ham’s transfer plans might be disrupted by Lucas Paqueta’s recent FA gambling charge.
Lopetegui’s success hinges on his ability to make astute signings and improve on-field performance. While Bruno’s arrival would be a positive start, the Irons still need further reinforcements to challenge for the top spots. The summer transfer window will be pivotal in shaping Lopetegui’s West Ham and regaining the trust of the fans.
Much of the fan’s unrest is instigated by your journalists at Claret and Hugh, Lopetigui hasn’t even started yet and you’re already churning out your bile, Give it a rest!
The football has been turgid for over two years. We only won that trophy in spite of dinosaur Moyes , not because of him. Fiorentina were the better side in the final remember
Never mind what Moyes achieved during his tenure at whu that’s in the past.
You’re only as good as your last job/match.
Moyes has gone leaving club in a mess.
Players who are over the hill / discontent with ending contracts / forced academy players to look elsewhere / sold/loaned players out without bringing in replacements / running legs off his small squad / very little backup on subs bench which he had no confidence in.
Now there’s the added problem with Paqueta which is likely to impede buying new players.
Whatever the new manager can do hope it’s enough because appears he’s entered into a mine field.
There were so many things wrong by the end of Moyeses tenure that if this guy can at least address some of them like this, getting transfers over the line early squad size and hopefully get the average player age below 60 then he would already be a major upgrade
I think he’s a major upgrade on Dinosaur Moyes . I hope the Paqueta issue doesn’t stop him and Tim recruiting 6 or 7 players
What a s—t site no one has got anything good to say about anyone goodbye won’t be back COYI ⚒
