The opinion that West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui needs time to build a new Hammers team is starting to sound as hollow as it is ridiculous.
Let’s suppose for a moment that Lopetegui is capable of rebuilding a West Ham team in his image. The 58-year-old supposedly spent most of last season watching the team under David Moyes and collating data on where the tactics were failing.
He was appointed with time to spare in pre-season, oversaw a full build-up programme, and was supported with significant financial backing. In short, everything was put in place for Lopetegui to build West Ham in his image and take the club forward.
Unfortunately for the club and the head coach, the team has gone backwards, which begs the question: how long are we supposed to wait for his ideas to work?
Other new managers appear to implement their ideas far more quickly, yet Lopetegui still struggles to get the Hammers players on-side.
Rumours of dressing room unrest are nothing new and date back to when Mohammed Kudus and the Irons boss reportedly had to be physically separated in the dressing room. It’s worth noting this is far from an isolated incident, with reports of an unhappy camp persisting despite the club’s best efforts to keep such stories under wraps.
Yesterday’s statistics may offer hope and evidence to some who claim Lopetegui is on the cusp of cracking the code. But statistics can be deceiving. Yes, West Ham had far more shots than Leicester City, but the team lacked real belief and drive, and confidence appears paper-thin.
Unfortunately, it’s becoming harder to justify why Lopetegui should stay. If he survives the week, I’d be amazed.
Sacking the manager won’t change the sad sap team. No-one wants to come to WHU. Not players, not managers. A third of the stadium is filled with away fans or neutrals.
How would anyone reshape the squad to bring about wins? Bowen as our best player? He isn’t even the best British player for his position, let alone the best EPL player.
The rot is deep. “What is bred in the bone will come out in the flesh.”
The players do not know whether they are coming or going. Its a different team each week with a few players being played out of position. How can the team function when it is managed that way.
Car crash coaching Fred.
What does JLo do at the training ground?
It’s almost midday and still no P45 from Sullivan for this fraud of a coach!
Protests against Sullivan & Brady incoming for the game against Wolves. It’s the only way.
Boycott or anti board demonstrations 100%
This was against a championship side…Surely we are allowed to think that we are deserving more?…
But forget the fans for a moment….Doesnt the club want to progress?….Doesnt the board want to mix it with the CL and all the revenue that brings?…Someone has cocked up …The buck stops with Sullivan….Own it !!….Get rid of who is responsible …Now!!
Sullivan is responsible though and so the only one to go has to be the coach.
He’s lost the fans, the poll on X is 83% sack him now.
Arsenal was an embarrassment but against a good team, Leicester was an embarrassment against relegation favourites. Everton was the worst premier league game this season.
We’d honestly be better off with the academy coaches and Noble in charge until a new head coach can be appointed. And when a new head coach is appointed keep Sullivan away from the decision.
Can we please appoint Hoeness and save our season like he did saving Stuttgart from relegation and then taking them to 2nd in the Budesliga the season that followed.
Sullivan should never chose another coach ever again, he can’t be trusted and so far is still keeping faith with the clone of Avram Grant.
Hoeness, yes Hoeness, he is the standout candidate.
Sullivan won’t admit he ignored Tim and made another failed appointment.
He is too busy using top sources and media friendly journalists to scapegoat Tim to point the blame away from himself.
Hoeness is the best choice, but we will get a Sully choice and see Tim get sacked with JLo.
Let’s hope he changes and Hoeness joins and we can dream of Europe in the near future instead of away days at Wrexham in the Championship.
The most pathetic and unedifying display ever.
Like a team of ‘ringers’ over Hackney Marshes on a Sunday morning, not one player knowing what the other ten were doing.
Then, as pictured, the manager, with his elbows on his knees, holding his head in his hands.
He has obviously lost the whole team squad, together with his marbles.
Why on earth is Sullivan waiting, perhaps until it’s too late and we’re really in the muck.
If we don’t act now the possibility of playing next season against Wrexham & Wycombe W is fast becoming our reality!
How on earth Loppy still has his job is beyond comprehension. I keep switching on SkySports News hoping this nightmare will end.
Please make it stop.
He lost the fans and dressing room ages ago!
Sullivan again has royally f*+ked it up once again with yet another pathetic choice and not already sacking this dead man walking.
No amount of “top source” propaganda spreading disinformation can detract that this epic failure is all on Sullivan!
Stop the homesick, wasted a fortune in the summer scapegoating bullsh*t and start saying it how it really is at West Ham.
Sullivan has wasted more money on strikers and failed signings than any other team in recent history.
As for home sick that sums up fans who feel that way watching the garbage every week under JLo at the London Stadium.
They wouldn’t be so many empty seats before the final whistle or even just after HT (Arsenal) if this wasn’t the truth.
The truth hurts and so does Sullivan as Chairman.
Hi gonzo, agree with all you say however I don’t think sulli is going to do what is desperately required for the club. I fear we will hear the usual rhetoric of “we saw signs of improvement at Leicester” and the age old “we need a positive result from the next game (or 2)” it’s a truly ridiculous model to follow, but sulli can’t see it. Cheers
I’m just fed up with the anti Tim rhetoric and loaded garbage stories trying to detract the blame from Sullivan and pin it in Steidten.
Füllkrug won’t make the squad vs Leicester, he is injured, he is homesick, he is behind the riots in Stockport and part of the Far Right.
Our Brazil kid is useless in training, waste of money, should never have been signed.
Tim rmessed up in the transfer window, signed Rodriguez, JWP, Kalvin Phillips, and is the reason we are in a mess.
It’s so obviously misinformation with the sole aim of detracting the blame from the narcissistic spineless chairman at our club.
