According to the latest information shared with Claret and Hugh, current West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui had not received any updates from the club by 2 PM today.

It’s worth noting that while this was the situation earlier, Lopetegui could have been called in for a meeting during the past hour. However, with players typically leaving for home after training at 3 PM, the bad news will likely be delivered later this afternoon after 3pm.

As reported earlier, Graham Potter has travelled to the London Stadium for media duties. It’s understood he has already completed his ceremonial contract signing in front of the cameras, having finalised the legalities of the deal earlier today. The agreement was reached late last night with a view to dismissing Lopetegui this morning. However, despite the Spaniard arriving early with the expectation of being sacked he has taken training and acted in a completely professional manner.

As always, Claret and Hugh will keep you updated with the latest developments but the sacking is imminent.

Your mention of Paul Hilton transfer from Bury reminded me bumping into him in the cafe opposite Green Street station before a match. Nice bloke he was and Billy Bonds employed him as a coach at Chadwell heath. THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!

Lopetegui was happy to discuss joining West Ham whilst Moyes was still manager. What comes round goes round

If you check the BBC sports page they’ve just said that JLO has been sacked. Need to keep up with the news 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Club statement released at about same time you posted this.

It just shows a complete lack of class and respect for someone who has been under intense public and media pressure played out in front of the cameras. To be fair to Lopetegui he has continued to fulfil all his duties knowing that the whole world knows he is being sacked which must be incredibly difficult especially after his father’s death recently.

As a lifelong supporter I am disgusted to see how badly this has been handled by the club.

And we all know about class and respect on here don’t we? Just remember, there are two sides to every story and Lopetegui laid the foundations to this one. As for his father, sad for his family but absolutely nothing to do with us.

I’ve been a fan for over 60 years and didn’t rate Lopetegui and he was definitely the wrong appointment, but Sullivan and the board have to take responsibility for that. The way this has been allowed to drag on for so long played out in public over the last few months is a disgrace.

Over 1100 comments on the BBC report of his sacking and many from our own fans critical of the way it’s been handled and the decision to part company with Moyes etc. Its not been helped by the constant reports of arguments between Lopetegui and Steiden, bust ups with players and him constantly being given 2 more games, fans walking out with 20 minutes to go etc.. I just hope Potter and his new coaching team are given time and backing by the board and fans.

I agree with you, it was apparent to me, after my early suspicions during pre-season, that something was wrong. Nothing he did made sense for someone who had allegedly done so much research, had been involved in massive expenditure etc. Then came the bust ups with players, something any coach in any sport knows is a no no, and is also taught how to deal with such issues. For 6 months we have all watched, puzzled. I don’t want Lopetegui to walk away free from blame just because we have a questionable owner. If the board had fired Lopetegui back in the last International break, that would have been justified, but then you had so many pleading his case. I have no sympathy for the man, only for the players at this point. Like you I got bitten by the bug 61 years ago.

What an absolute embarrassment. Never in all my days as a West Ham supporter have I witnessed this kind of incompetence. I was never a Loppy fan, but after his appointment, I at least gave him the respect he deserved and supported him in his role as head coach. This whole situation just reeks of such unprofessional behaviour! It should be used as the classic example of how not to treat people and how not to do business. I wish him well in his next endeavour, even though his methods didn’t work for us. Hopefully we can now build some team spirit and unity and rescue something from the season. COYI

Sullivan hasnt got any dignity disgraceful

Sometimes I wish you would wait until you know the full story before speculating and making assumptions which only leads to making a mountain out of a molehill.

I’m sure that when everything is revealed, the changeover of managers was done properly and harmoniously.

  • Wayne says:

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from west ham 40+ years I’ve supported this club treat the man with some dignity simple
