Week after week it seems that West Ham United trundle out a player or head coach after the game to burble the same nonsense. This week the unfortunate Lucas Fabianski was the sacrificial lamb served up to the media. The Hammers’ veteran goalkeeper actually didn’t have a bad game – perhaps that is why he was chosen to front-up for media duties afterwards.

Lopetegui, however, was interviewed and broadcast on the clubs twitter x account: “First of all sorry to our fans – we are very disappointed today”. It is becoming like a worn out record – or for anyone under 40 – a skipping video loop that keeps repeating the same 10 second apology week after week.

No doubt, had I the patience to watch the whole interview I’d have heard “we are going to work very hard next week to put it right”. But work at what, exactly?

Lopetegui’s crackpot version of total football which rotates players into positions they aren’t familiar with and at the same time leaves huge gaps where common sense dictates they should be?

Or maybe the selection roulette of creating a different formation each week to bamboozle spectators and destroy the confidence of the team?

‘Or maybe just picking the same out of form, bang-average players week in week out whatever rubbish they produce on the pitch?

Not so much ‘Special One’ as  ‘Ted Lasso’ wishful thinking.

Enough ‘saying sorry’, Julen, it isn’t enough. either say ‘I have changed and learned my lesson‘ or say ‘Goodbye’.

Jarrod Bowen’s loyalty to his coach is admirable when his interview focuses on ‘looking at themselves as players’ – but he can hardly say what everyone watching was thinking: WTF – What the ‘Fullkrug’- was going on with the third different set-up and selection in three games?

It is now clear that the Everton game is a must-win for Lopetegui from the comments made by our highly placed source at the club. I do feel sorry for Lopetegui, he seems like a nice guy. But anyone failing quite so publicly four months in to their high-pressure job must be looking over their shoulder.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

I’m intrigued as to why the person who wrote this said ‘people under 40’. You think this is new? It’s being going on since my Grandad was a boy – and believe me that’s a long, long time ago. The sooner people accept it’s not the Board, Stratford or new manager is when we can start trying to get to the bottom of the conundrum. This is the real ‘West Ham way’.

  • Dal M says:

We need rid of this poxy manager!!! He is like for like.
We wanted a young energetic forward thinking manager. We’ve got David Moyes with a Tan

Sullivan do your job and rid this bloke from our club.

  • lee says:

Sullivan you have made a huge mistake, gain some respect, own up to it and put it right, send this joker back to Spain asap he is killing us and ruining my weekends!!!!

  • mark wiggins says:

The tactics are awful and with our players we should be doing better . Lopetegui needs to go now why wait !

  • David Pope says:

    “…failing so publicly…” ???

    LOSSES
Aston Villa – top 7 club
Man City – top 7 club
    Chelsea – top 7 club
    Forest – top 7 club
    Spurs – 🤢🥴🤢

    DRAWS
    Brentford – Away draw
    Fulham – Away draw

    WINS
    Palace – Away win
    Ipswich – Home win
    Man Utd – Home win

I’ve said it before…Lopetegui may not turn out to be the coach to turn around the fortunes of our club, I give him until the new year, but the tsunami of negativity towards him I find astounding and a little boorish.

    • Everyone says:

So, losing to top 7 clubs is an adequate excuse for failure? Come on, this is such a loser mentality. This club should BE a top 7 club. To accept this level of incompetence until the new year is asinine. The mismanagement is legendary.

I know rollercoaster hammer and Jellied Eel will vehemently disagree, which will confirm the accuracy of my allegation.

    • Andy Stone says:

Points gained against us helped them become top seven. As the season rolls on I suspect that list will start looking like top 12 that have beaten us.
There’s no hiding from the fact that we are appalling tactically along with poor starting lineup selections, lose of confidence in him from the players, playing players in novelty positions. The list goes on, he needs to go now so that his replacement has the opportunity to develop the starting lineup and overall squad as well as having some input into any January signings.

  • Hmm says:

The only thing is I don’t think Lopetegui is going to change his ways. Managers like the Southampton guy and the Tottenham guy “it’s who we are” only have one way of playing. Lopetegui speaks about putting out different teams depending on the opposition. We need all the players. That’s hid mantra. Trouble is it means he puts out a different formation and different team for every game. As a result I’m not sure the players know what the he’ll they’re doing week to week.

  • Ted Fenton says:

Results and performances have been awful. But now JL has lost the dressing room he needs to go. Put Noble in temporary charge to stabilise the situation while TS searches for a new manager. DS is a decent chairman but should not be involved in recruitment

  • Jeeps says:

There was a call to dismiss Moyes just before an international break which was ignored.
Due mainly to £7 million that was payable because of his contract agreement.
Unlikely that JLo will be given the big push for same reason.
Moyes must be laughing his nuts off at this saga.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Flopetegui hasn’t worked out, his systems don’t work, the passing game is non existent and we have better players than we have ever had

Get shot of him now, this is a rerun of Abram Grant. There are quality managers available, my choice would be Potter, he was unlucky at Chelsea, they played amazing football but had no cutting edge, with our forwards they have goals in them.

Though TBH anyone other than Looetegui will be an improvement.

    • rollercoaster hammer says:

Potter will not give Rodriduez and Tomas quick feet, a turning circle and slick passing

  • John Ayris says:

After Everton it’s the international break.

It’s the ideal time to admit that regrettably this just isn’t working and to bring in Edin Terzic who has recent achievements.

Terzic left Dortmund in June so is available without compo if we’re spent out. I believe he’s said that he’d like to manage in the premier league.

Unfortunately Lopetegui is on a two year contract which has eighteen months to run, probably means that all the back room staff are too. That means there’d be a tidy sum to pay out in severences means the board would be reluctant.

There’s no sign of any improvement though and it could well be the cheaper option than getting into a deterioration in the new year.

  • Phil Baker says:

LOLpetegui appears to have scammed sad old Sulluvan into believing that he’s a coach . The game is up , GOpetegui please go . I’m sure you’ll get a huge pay off of around 7 million for the two year contract . The problem for Westham will be how to afford a new manager with absolutely no cash because of PSR . My cat will coach for free and be better than Lopetegui .

  • Pete says:

Get the banners ready. Protests return now. sully out!!!!!!!

  • Bennyboy baker says:

He can shove his sorry it’s just not good enough we have some world class players that are being made to look like crap don’t be surprised if if a whole lot of transfer requests start being demanded by the squad it’s a complete disaster the way things are now JL has got to be a candidate for the worst manager of the year if not in the history of the club he is not capable of having a style that makes any sense the tactics that are being used is a total mystery to everyone concerned with football he is not fit to be a manager of any team in any league in any part of the world but there is one person who thinks he’s the man and that is Mr Sullivan I just wonder what it takes for him to see what everyone else sees that JL is a waste of space or is it a case that Sullivan has lost the plot and gone totally ga ga

  • Zahama says:

I remember the ice lady Brady saying that Avram Grant was a lovely man but a useless manager

Perhaps Sully is too easily charmed

What puzzles me is C & H (Gonzo in particular) were initially on the side of those who said J LO was not their first choice – that was fine and I have no problem with that

What I found strange were the subsequent C&H posts that talked about giving J Lo a chance to implement his possession based and high pressing system – I have no idea where that one came from lol

    • rollercoaster hammer says:

why do you find that puzzling? he wasn’t there choice but fairly chose to show some support and give him a chance. is that a part of life that escapes you?

  • Matt says:

Just say “adios” and jog on you mug!!

  • David Moyes says:

Don’t feel sorry for him at all,he’s being paid a tidy pay pocket to turn our team into relegation certainties regardless of whether you think he’s a decant bloke or not, good bloke or a horrible bloke whatever he clearly isn’t up to the job and needs replacing asap

    • Pongo says:

I’m not even bothering with West ham, results, info,, bull****, excuses and fake, apologies anymore, my interest as a true hammer will begin again once we have got rid of this joker real Madrid sussed out that he was clueless and the only achievement I see him making at West ham is in getting us relegated, why else would you play your best players out of position and in 10 games in the pl he has done this every time changed tactics and formations and players, this takes me back to my childhood in Dylan, ermintrude, Florence, zebedi, perhaps next game they will be playing for us as, another of his magic roundabout experiments. Lopetugui f off you ain’t wanted here cos your absolutely hopeless, seriously I could do a better job no doubt about that whatsoever.
