In a match dubbed “El Sackico,” West Ham secured a crucial 2-1 victory against Wolves, who remain stuck in 19th place. The Hammers, meanwhile, hold firm in 14th, just seven points off the top six and nine clear of the relegation zone.

Before the game, Michail Antonio held a video call with his teammates, who dedicated the win to their absent colleague.

Reflecting on his opening goal, Tomas Soucek said:
“Yes, it was for him. I dedicated it to him – I said to myself I wanted to score even more today.”

Under-pressure head coach Julen Lopetegui looked bemused by eight minutes of added time but was visibly relieved at the final whistle:
“We deserved the three points. We were able to compete well and fight until the end. We had very clear chances. But the most important thing is that we won.”

The game was goalless at half-time before Soucek broke the deadlock in the 54th minute. Wolves equalised through Matt Doherty on 69 minutes, but Jarrod Bowen secured the win for West Ham with a low strike past Sam Johnstone. Bowen was named man of the match, continuing his prolific record against Wolves with six goals and an assist in ten appearances.

Wolves may feel aggrieved by some refereeing decisions, as the match was evenly contested. Both teams registered 19 shots, with Wolves managing five on target to West Ham’s four. However, the visitors failed to win a single corner, while West Ham racked up 11. The Hammers missed set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

For now, the speculation surrounding Lopetegui’s future may quieten. However, with a crucial Monday night clash against Bournemouth on 16th December, rumours of Graham Potter’s potential appointment could resurface. Lopetegui refused to be drawn on his job security, stating:
“I don’t talk about the noise; I talk about the football.”

As reported earlier by Gonzo, a senior club source revealed the board remains cautious. While the three points are welcome, the performance remains under scrutiny.

I have been a season ticket holder since the late eighties, so experienced the highs and lows of being a West Ham supporter. I previously wrote for OLAS and have contributed to a number of football publications in the past.

The win against wolves proved nothing, loopy needs to go we need man management , we have a natural leader in the wings a certain Mr noble Mr west ham I honestly think we should take leap of faith and let him take over running the team ?

Opinions change with every league position. People say West Ham didn’t play well last night but still won the game. Some other team currently higher up the table does that they say well they didn’t play well but they still won the game, that’s the sign of a good team.

Don’t know if it’s a modern generations thing, cancel culture and all of that kind of thing but it just feels like there is a kind of anti verse of West Ham fans nowadays working against the club, against the players, against the manager. Let’s get the manager out, this player out, that person out. Blame this person, blame that person. Let’s boycott this, let’s cancel that. Let’s talk about rumours and scandal as if they are fact even though we weren’t there so how could we possibly know. Feels like if this continues and I can’t see any sign of it stopping we will never be the West Ham United I grew up with, more like West Ham Devided.

Sullivan will leave it as long as possible to sack the idiot, Sullivan won’t admit he was wrong picking him. He should have gone at the international break but we’ll we are talking about Sullivan. We were dam lucky last night another day and we would have lost both of our goals were lucky to be given. They could have had at least 1maybe 2 penalties and to find out the players had a chat and change bits at half time as per Bowen no mention of the idiot manager in that chat ?? Pls get new manager in now

Regardless of last nights 3 point win we showed little improvement nor any developing style or football identity. I’m not saying the players didn’t put in the effort because they certainly did but sweat alone doesnt make a good team, worryingly we were exposed defensively and a better side than Wolves would have benefited. I just cannot see Jlo turning this around,it’s a stalemate and it looks like it’s going to continue unless we fall into the relegation zone which is unlikely due to the teams below us,but you never know. It is true that football fans are fickle but most are also clued up about their club but are rarely listened to,perhaps it’s time the West Ham board opened their ears as well as their eyes and take notice of the fans.

Sullivan will avoid paying Lopadope off as long as we are clear of the bottom three.

Nothings changed so far as I’m concerned. He should have gone after the Everton game. Last nights performance will not beat Bournemouth.

Just 7 points away from the top six 🤣🤣🤣

We are miles away from that becoming reality with Lope the Dope limping to his latest must win game against a woeful relegation favourite.

1 point at home against a bang average Everton and zero points against another relegation favourite in Leicester.

The big tent stays up for longer than expected 🎪
