Lopetegui’s’ “Jesus Navas”- Get it done!

Not just because, as fans, we are all eager, desperate, anxious, or nonplussed (delete as applicable) to see definitive signings that will rejuvenate and bolster our paper-thin squad, but also because, in my opinion, securing targets rather than missing out or over-haggling is vital for Lopetegui’s peace of mind at this point in the transfer window.

We all know that feeling as the clock ticks down on deadline day and squad numbers are still short: West Ham fans experienced this in the last window, and the last thing the club needs is a Head Coach disillusioned for a second time with unfulfilled promises made by his Premier League bosses. Last time, that didn’t end well.

So, the X/Tweet from Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth yesterday served as reassurance that the club is not focused solely on the Jhon Duran negotiations:

“More on Noussair Mazraoui to West Ham United. Fee understood to be an initial €16m + €3.5m in performance-related add-ons. If a deal can be finalized in the coming days, Mazraoui could yet join up with the West Ham squad on their pre-season tour of the States.”

This would be a boost to squad morale, to the management duo’s morale, and to ours as interested onlookers too. So, what can we expect if his signature is added to the Hammers’ roster? According to mundodeportivo.com, which followed the player’s development up to his joining Bayern Munich:

“Once a Barcelona player, he stands out for being an attacking full-back who can reach the byline well, link up with quality, and also take on players. Furthermore, if he has to assume a more defensive role, he is also capable. He is intense in duels and is very close to his rivals. He could be Lopetegui’s ‘Jesus Navas.'”

High praise indeed. Please, let’s get that contract signed and the medical done ASAP.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

If they don’t want to play for us, walk away and move on. We don’t necessarily need to spend big. We just need young talented individuals that are hungry to improve and make it in the PL. Look at Coufal, we got him for £5M and he has been great for us

I watch every Bayern game and I can tell you he’s a very good player and when they first played him I thought he was fantastic after a settling in period, but he’s always injured. He’s so flimsy. When he’s as much as tapped by the opposition and he’s out for a month or two and everyone is always aghast that a nothing coming together results him wanting to be subbed.

If he was worth keeping you can bet he wouldn’t be going cheap and certainly not to us.

Bayern have had enough. Attitude not great, and, as I’ve said before, his antisemitic posts did not go down well at Bayern who have a history of close relationships with Jewish people, in the past and now.

His posts were the final nail in his coffin. Do we really want all that here? I don’t.

Why have we not learned from his Moroccan team mate these players are not committed to the clubs they play for and when the going get’s tough they get an injury.

Does any one want to play for ⚒️ all the players were after have snubbed us
Jo-Lo will be getting the hump and impatient with our lack lustre dealing policy .. if we’ve got the money get the deals done and stop pussy footing around FFS😡🤷‍♂️

So glad it’s fallen through he might look good going forward but defensively he’ll struggle in the PL. If he was that good Bayern would not be selling he’ll be exposed like so many before him who preferred Old Trafford. I prefer full backs that tackle and cover there CB’s any thing else is a bonus can’t say he’s renowned for either just likes to charge forward.

Looks like Burch is correct. Will we EVER sign ANY of the players who we, apparently, want ?

  • Burch says:

I doubt it, he will end up at Man Utd
