Lopetegui Crisis | Hammers’ Decision Made After Meeting With Allegri

West Ham are up against it in the search for a Lopetegui replacement. By the clubs’ own admission, compensation packages required to lure away managers in existing roles will not be paid – so the Hammers shoot themselves in the foot by refusing point blank to recruit from the very best pool of talent.

By only seeking out either managers (or ‘head coaches’) who are freely available or those who are on the ‘budget’ aisle and have inexpensive salary demands, the club can end up – again – looking like a thoroughbred racehorse being ridden by a novice jockey who only requires minimum wage.

It isn’t going to end well for the horse or the jockey, as indeed it isn’t for West Ham or Lopetegui right now.

Case in point here is Massimiliano Allegri. The former Juventus coach is an elite level manager. Reportedly in the UK and according to Football Insider
, “West Ham held a meeting with Massimiliano Allegri about the possibility of taking over as manager”.

But, according to the report: “the finances involved in a deal to bring him to the London Stadium are thought to be prohibitive for the West Ham, board who will now look elsewhere.”

Sometimes I despair. The salary demands were very high, if I remember right:  £8 million a year, but that’s less than West Ham made in prize money from winning just their group matches in the 2023 Europa Conference League! As the saying goes, if you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys.

However, that report is in direct contrast to Gonzo’s article yesterday which suggested that a deal could be done with Allegri providing he doesn’t  join midseason. I’m kind of hoping Gonzo is right. But at the same time I know West Ham’s record for recruiting coaches on the cheap so I’m not holding my breath that Allegri will be marching through the door at London Stadium next Summer.

Classic Sullivan. Will blow loads of money on players like Vlasic but won’t shell out a few million on a manager. Not that I want Allegri seems like more of the same old dinosaurs playing negative football.

He should go for a bright young manager that signs hungry young players, was sceptical of Chelsea but now it could get them a title win if they continue as they have started.

57 years old, unemployed, past his peak dining out on his name.

Sullivan never learns. Even after the Pellegrini and Lopetegui episodes he still wants to go for what he probably sees as a glamorous appointment.

It will turn out to he another expensive waste. Will cost more to pay him off when he fails than it would to get Silva or Iraola out of their contracts.

Cheaper to pay the release clause of Hoeness!

Sullivan has no vision, no strategy and no idea how to run a successful and ambitious club.

Wish he would just hurry up and go!

We deserve better than this clown of a chairman making West Ham a circus!

They can spend 10 mil on jordan hugil but not.8 on top management 🤣brilliant…..what a mess this club is in again…..embarrassing so embarrassing

What’s worse than a terrible cheap coach ? A terrible expensive coach . Sullivan has once again proven himself incompetent with matters of football and so I’m afraid that his ego will get in the way of any potential Westham success . Nonsense rules again with a lose if we win or win if we lose situation against Wolves . So depressing . Wondering in what minute will I turn off TV in despair .

This what happens when market traders run a professional football club.
I have never in all my years supporting WHU.
Moyey showed us what we could be like if the owners really thought about the club and not their money sitting in the bank.
We may just as well accept the fact the we will get relegated this season, because Sully thinks that he knows about running a football club, If it were a porn mag he would be right, but he must Understand and look at the other teams that are high in the league.
God bless West Ham United FC and all those that sink with it.

Swerve Allegri at all costs! Pleased we can’t afford him. We can’t afford to appoint coaches who’s best days are behind them.

Second what “Bilic”said, while this “buy one get one free” Del Trotter excuse of a Chairman
runs this club, we’ll always be a two Bob outfit…..
Cab for the Porn Baron !! 👎

As my brother told me – we need to keep away from Managers/ Coaches who end with an ‘I’…Macari; Pellegrini; “Allardici” (?); Lopetegui!

I’m not disputing that Allegri is a top coach, but is he really what West Ham needs right now ? As per usual the board are looking at the fancy second hand cars, that have a lot of miles on the clock, rather than the newer models that are going to run for longer. Michael Carrick should be the only name currently getting discussed, as far as I’m concerned. He’s still learning, but knows West Ham inside out, would have the respect of the players, due to what he has done in the game & would integrate some of the best young players we have had at our club for a long time. None of these new managers are going to take a punt with our youth players & as a fan would love to see Carrick playing a team that is playing good football & brining through as many of the youngs ones as he can. Potts, Scarles, Earthy, Casey, Orford & others would all get a chance in the first team. Don’t keep making the same mistakes, otherwise get the board out as well.

    Spot on.

Nothing changes, no progression while Sullivan is at the helm.

Prepare to be underwhelmed yet again.
