Overnight, Claret and Hugh received confirmation that the FA independent commission delivered their verdict on Lucas Paqueta’s hearing to his legal team and representatives yesterday evening.
This confirms what we were briefed on late on Thursday evening, that the wait was nearly over and the verdict would be delivered on Friday.
The club are also aware of the outcome of the hearing, which finished in early June.
The FA has yet to make an official announcement, but this is expected to follow in the next few days and could be made as early as today, after the outcome was widely leaked in the press last night, led by The Times.
We were told yesterday that he would be cleared of the serious spot fixing charges, but decided not to run the news until we received further confirmation
It is unknown whether he has been found guilty of the lesser charges of two breaches of FA Rule F3 in respect of alleged failures to comply pursuant to FA Rule F2, which relates to providing information and documents. This is associated with the disposal of an old phone after the FA asked for it a second time.
It would seem petty to punish him for these offences, considering he was found not guilty of the main allegations, but it could result in a heavy fine.
Returning the phone back to Paqueta was a deliberate action designed to entrap Paqueta with lesser charges in order to insulate the FA against any legal actions by Westham or Paqueta . A lot of planning went into this alleged conspiracy .
If they had evidence on the phone and didn’t keep it. It’s their own incompetence. If I’d had my phone missing for months on £130k a week, I’d have bought a new one and binned the other.
The only credible reason to return it then ask for it back, is that they hacked it first and expected to get further evidence.
There’s a reason their initials are FA……nothing to do with football !
Don’t see how they can do this , they had the phone an gave it back
This would never stand up in a court of law
Absolute clowns
the FA may hide any liability for the time this has taken to reach a verdict on this case, passing blame onto the independent panel for the verdict delay, but the damage that this farce has done to the player and WHU is immense. It has been reported that neither the player or WHU can claim for financial compensation from the FA other than legal fees which does not seem fair, I hope Sullivan and co are examining every aspect of the decision and anything that they can sue the FA for to mitigate financial losses.
Just stop the F.A. messing around Lucas and sue them into oblivion. Funny how the letters are so appropriate describing how much of a case they had.
They’ll charge him with the phone offence to save face. He’ll appeal and it’ll be dropped once the story is long forgotten and he’s playing football in a different country. Typical of the clowns that run English football
This all smacks of a cover up at the FA they had his phone and are now doing whatever they can to save face, if they actually have the brass neck to fine an innocent person after ruining to some degree their career, heads should roll at the FA for their incompetence.
So the FA Committee in Mike Bassett England Manager were not fictional after all
They..The FA…Are just trying to save face by charging him with the lesser of the so..called “offences”…
When the dust settles… West Ham should quietly get their lawyers on to FIFA…We don’t need to know about how long or how much compensation the club and Paqueta are entitled to..But we just need to know the the process has started….Then we can draw a line under this sorry saga…
Why should he pay a fine for the FA’s ineptitude to do there jobs…..they had the phone they kept it then gave it back once they had finished with it then at a later date say they want another look and Pacman said he no longer had it as he had replaced it with another one whilst they held the original first time around…..Talk about trying to save there own faces…..i would not if issued pay the fine and take them to court if they threaten to ban him on that….a totally useless out of touch institution who are clearly out of there depth in the modern world no wonder Citeh and the like are laughing at that lot.
A heavy fine would just help to try and save the FAs embarrassment of not being able to make the more serious charges stick – and will also try to ward off the player (and maybe the club) for trying to make a claim against the FA
