Man United move a point above West Ham in the race for Europe

Manchester United 2-2 Liverpool

Manchester United have moved a point ahead of West Ham in the race for European football. Erik ten Hag’s team were lucky to get a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford against a Liverpool team who dominated large sections of the game.

Man U now move a point ahead of the Hammers with a game in hand. Chelsea face Sheffield United in the Premier League today and can expect a win which would move them two points behind West Ham with two games in hand.

Liverpool’s failure to kill the game bit them in the backside five minutes into the second half when Quansah’s poor pass near the halfway line went straight to Bruno Fernandes, who shot from 40 yards out over Caoimhin Kelleher.

It was United’s first shot of the game, while Liverpool had had 17 shots in a highly entertaining game which also saw new England debutant Kobbie Mainoo, curling in an incredible shot.

Jurgen Klopp will not be happy with a point which sees Arsenal stay top of the EPL having already been knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United earlier this season.

So a bad result for Klopp and a bad result for West Ham . . . onwards and upwards to Thursday’s Leverkusen game.
