Areola:6 Flapped at a cross after 13 mins, but was rescued by the eagle eyed Emerson.
Coufal:7 Never really in trouble defensively.
Zouma:9 Super reliable. I’m running out of superlatives for Mr Consistent Zouma. Dominant. Scored with a thumping header from a Ward Prowse corner.
Aguerd:6 Magnificent 40 yard pass set up Bowen to shoot. Hesitant defending in the second half almost put Areola in trouble.
Emerson:6 Great going forward but sometimes nervous in defence. Established as first choice left back now. Should have done better for Luton’s goal.
Alvarez:8 Senses danger and drops into central defence when required. Pivotal in the build-up to Bowen’s opener. Born to play in the Premier League.
Ward-Prowse:8 Always looking for the early pass to launch a counter. His corners are always menacing and predictably yielded as assist.
Paqueta:9 Always probing to trying and find the killer pass and unlock Luton. Eventually found a way through with an exquisite curled pass for Bowen to score. For all his attacking qualities, Paqueta was also exceptional at winning the ball back.
Bowen:8 Freed from his usual defensive responsibilities as West Ham had the lions share of possession. Held his position perfectly before heading in to give West Ham the lead from Paqueta’s pass. Very lively.
Benrahma:6 Lively in the first half and linked well with Emerson. Had a couple of wild attempts from distance.
Antonio:7 Not really Antonio’s type of game as West Ham enjoyed significant midfield possession. No real space for him to run in behind the defence so often dropped deep to try and make something happen. Nice piece of hold-up play for an Emerson goal which was ruled offside.
Fornals: 70th min sub for Benrahma. Substitution shut down our left sided attacks as Moyes looked to stifle Luton.
Ings: 79th min sub for Antonio
Kudus: 90th min sub for Paqueta
We were really in control until Moyes did his usual subbing. Benrahma was a continuous outlet wide left, but as soon as he went for Fornals to try to shut them down, they started launching it from the back as under no pressure. Got to say I really liked this team without Soucek, I prefer the ball players in midfield.
