You have to ask yourself what is the point of all the ‘data driven’ player analysis and selection going on – anecdotally – at London Stadium. Head of recruitment poor Kyle Macaulay will soon be bald if he’s left in this position of tearing out his hair for much longer. One of the major midfield targets identified leading into this transfer window was West Ham’s former ECL opponent Mario Stroekyens.
As we wrote last month, ‘At twenty years old and proven already on the international stage, this exciting young prospect for the Hammers is a bit of a steal now at €20 million – just £17 million -and would make a fabulous addition to West Ham’s midfield. He’d transform the dull, donkey-like performances at the heart of the team next year: Partner him with Freddie Potts and Graham Potter’s Hammers could be -relatively speaking- electric.”
A bit of a steal at £17 million.
Well now West Ham’s lack of action owing to shortage of funds is coming back to bite them on the backside as other Premier League clubs try to effect their own ‘steal’: According to a report today “Leeds United ‘start initial discussions’ over deal to sign West Ham United-linked playmaker…Leeds are interested in the Anderlecht prodigy [ Stroekyens] and have opened talks over personal terms.”
Tenth biggest attendance in the world and sixteenth richest in Europe and the Hammers cannot find £17 million to nail down their main midfield upgrade. Despite taking £500k off the weekly wage bill with the seven player exodus. Often I’m accused of being overly negative. Pull the positives out of that if you can.
I don’t believe for one second we can’t sign him after removing those wages . Even with PSR we can do it if we want to .
No real positives Martin, I would agree. One small point I would make is that at least we haven’t wasted a load of money so far as we have in so many previous transfer windows. It is still relatively early in the summer and I still have some hope that we will make a few decent moves. However it will definitely take some time and a number of transfer windows before we can drag ourselves out of the hole we have fallen into due to the previous mismanagement of resources.
As I sit here monitoring anything I can find on West Ham transfer news, I come to the realization that I am reading about the most dysfunctional football club in the Premier League. What are the chances that WHU will not complete a single transfer between now and September 1?
Maybe ask Lucas Paqueta or his family and friends. 🤣 Sorry, poor joke.
As sobering as your realization may be, I wonder if you’ve looked at any other football clubs ‘dysfunction’?
Man U, Tottenham, Leicester, etc. to name a few.
The dysfunctional business of football is rife across Europe, not just east London.
Westham will end up paying top price for the dregs at the end of the window and then play dismal Potter football until Westham are either relegated or Potter sacked . We’re all watching this slow motion train wreck in real time .
Hmm I’m guessing jealous of the guys with no shampoo or hairdressing bills.
I know I like to moan, but I feel sorry for this young lad who’s coming from Chelsea promised the world and be given Cleethorpes!! As I’ve said before the dwarf dildo butt plug Sullivan McGrath see Potter (boring boring wise my doppelgänger) to fail and see this club go out of existence rather than prove he is wrong ensuring the Academy thrives. Cause that little dwarf get would rather see us go under then give the club away. The day they put that man to rest is a day of celebration for West Ham United.
It’s not as if we have to pay the £17m in one go either
Just shows that 57 million bid for Jhon Duran was a crock of s**t.
Total fantasy.
Can’t afford 17 million,take us for mugs.
This is going to happen all the transfer window. Championship here we come lol
Sullivan a cheapskate when we moved to the london stadium he promised the earth they will end up with a empty stadium if sullivan dont sell up thats if anyone wants the club now
Sullivan …”promised the earth”
And what promises have not been kept?
It’s pathetic, but exactly what most fans would have expected from our board. They deserve relegation and it might just happen.
My understanding was that our analysis team had identified our main targets so we could move swiftly as soon as the transfer window opened. Have I missed all these dynamic young players flooding through the doors of the London Stadium? Of course I have because not a single one has arrived. Deja vu.
And I wouldn’t take this guy, because look, if you look at how many games he missed due to injuries this season, the statistics personally don’t make me happy.
Well it’s a bonus to have all the data on the top players that all the other teams are signing I suppose?!?!
Lol
