Madness to play strongest team against Man City

|

There is strong feeling across the Claret and Hugh forums that David Moyes really shouldn’t play what he considers his strongest starting line up against Man City on Wednesday evening.

With most believing we have a bigger chance of beating or getting a draw from the United game on Sunday, this may be a chance to give some of the less seen players a chance .

Regular contributor johnham1 has named his team and system which appears to be a fair shout for Wednesday evening.

Why would we play a full strength team against City. Absolutely madness!

The players need a rest so we prepare for United. Firstly we need to go to a back 5 and play a 5-3-1-1 system.

My team would be Areola, Coufal, Kehrer, Ogbonna, Aguerd, Cresswell or Emerson (all these players have had breaks recently).

My midfield would be Downes Lanzini and Paqueta with Fornals in behind either Cornet or Divan. Please no more ings up top on his own.

Couldn’t agree more but would also rest them against Utd, European football is a bigger prize than the PL if we want to attract players when Rice departs, we will almost definitely stay in PL anyway, AZ Alkmaar are a very good team full of young hungry players. We need to be at peak performance so bring on the likes of Rice, Paqueta, Antonio etc as subs to keep them sharp and put 100% into winning the European games
