Magnificent Irons ensure fortune is no longer hiding

By Hughie Southon

Just one incredible moment of magic from Lucas Paqueta and a fabulous finish saw the Hammers emerge triumphant in Prague tonight!

And in the end it was a deserved win against a team who made it is hard as it could ever have been. But in the end a perfect Paqueta pass through the heart of the Italian defence and a marvelous effort from Bowen saw the dream come true.

Our first major European trophy since 1985 when Bobby Moore lifted the Cup Winners Cup. This was magnificent…this was glorious…this was all the dreams come true with fortune no longer hiding.

Paqueta probably paid back all his transfer fee with that one pass and a performance generally which may just make it a tad easier to wish Declan Rice all the best.

We were second best in the first half but a Benrahma penalty, later equalised, and that final goal from Bowen sent every West Ham supporter into ecstasy.

Paqueta was the difference. He is a player and a half but Bowen too takes his share of glory and to David Moyes …we are all so ;pleased for you.

You have taken enormous pressure from us and others all season. But you have given us more than we could ever hope for.

And most of all , we are back in Europe next season!
