Modibo Maiga is heading for a Metz medical on Monday!

The French club are understood to only be ready to pay around 20 per cent of the striker’s wages and the Hammers are still pushing for a higher’subsidy.’

Maiga is keen to kick start his career in the meantime and it’s likely that a deal will be put together.

A Hammers source told us: “There’s still a little way to go and there’s always a chance of late hitches but things are looking relatively positive.

“As things stand at this moment Maiga is on his way to the French club for a medical.

“We will be paying the majority of his wages if it goes through but it gives him a chance to re-start his carer and for our purposes puts him in the shop window.”
