Major Masuaku blow

Arthur Masuaku will miss the game at Leeds tomorrow night with his knee injury still creating problems for the left sided midfielder.

Confirming the news via his Instagram page, Masuaku wrote: “Hi everyone, I hope you are all good.

“Today I’m having a knee surgery to help me remove the pain that’s been bothering me for nearly two years now. It’s been a very difficult decision to make but for my good being and the rest of my career I have to make it.

“I’ll be giving updates here through my recovery and will see you soon again on the field. I wish my teammates/brothers the very best.”

It would appear to mean that Said Benrahma is about to get his first team opportunity over 90 minutes after four  appearances as a substitute.

And it could be that he will now be ready to start supplying the ammunition for Sebastian Haller to improve his form.

The former Brentford star has looked particularly good on his cameo appearances for us against Fulham, Villa and Man United after making a last minute of extra time appearance against Liverpool.

Now it looks as though he will have several weeks to make an impression but it’s terrible luck on him as he has been showing some of the best form of his Hammers career despite being in pain.

His  troublesome knee saw him decide to stay in London to receive medical attention rather than travel for international duty but he has been unable to shake

  1. That is bad news . We will see Moyes true colours . Just keep everything crossed that he dosen’t revert to Noble . If he does we will be lucky to get a point over the Xmas period .

  2. Disaster. SB does not defend and Cressy will be hard pressed. Suggest moving Bowen to the left, put Snoddy on the right and hope for the best.

  3. Why not play Fornals at left wing back with Benrahma in front of him? Fornals is a work horse. I know it’s not ideal but I imagine he’d be better there that Benrahma

  4. Why the negative vibes
Leave it to Moyes he has done pretty good up to now injuries where alwways going to hapen
now will be the test of his skills tweak the system a bit the players comeing in should grasp the chance to impress with both hands
we have a good bench and moyes is not the paper hat many on this site claimed he was
I think he will good for us

  5. He can play Cresswell as left wing back with Diop in Cressie’s normal place left sided CB. Diop also plays better on the left than when he plays right sided CB.

Against a team that will be attacking us more than we attack them defensive strength is better than offensive threat. Cressie can also cross the ball well, I would definitely drop Fornals and play Benrahma as a number 10, Fornal can come on as a sub for either Benrahma or Bowen.

  6. This is bad news indeed – I feel for Masuaku who has played well after having been written off by many

If we want to keep the system (3-4-3 or 5-4-1) that has been working we could play Ben Johnson at left wing back – he did well against Man U when he came on and played well at left back against Villa at the end of last season

I would still play Benrahma and use Fornals as a sub – anyway it is Moyes decision

Lets hope that the team does it for Masuaku

  7. Hope he recovers soon and well. It’ll be good to have Arthur back 100%.
Meanwhile – we’ll cope. Keep the faith.
