Major Zarate doubt

Mauro-Zarate-West-Ham-UnitedMauro Zarate is a major doubt for Thursday night’s Europa League qualifier against Birkirkara.

Zarate missed the second leg of the Hammers’ first qualifying round tie against Lusitanos but was outstanding in the Upton Park leg.

Now David Gold has revealed that injury will keep him out of action this week revealing on Twitter in answer to whether Zarate would be fit:  “I doubt it”.

His absence would leave West Ham short of strikers as Diafra Sakho is suspended after getting sent off in the second leg against Lusitanos. Modibo Maiga and Elliot Lee could be called upon to start in the absence of Sakho and Zarate.

  1. I’d like to think Samuelsen could work as a striker!??!

  2. I’m with you on that one Eriko, bring on the next challenge for the junior Viking lol

  3. Yes. Got a feeling Slav will give Samuelsen an outing. I’m not a big Zarate fan tbh. I think the guy has a bad attitude and he disappears for long periods of a game. Just my opinion.

  4. Given that we are short on strikers I think he will play more experienced attacking midfield players on Thursday.
I hope that Nolan and Collins don’t get a game.
This is the best opportunity to see younger players get a game.

    Adrian

    Burke Tomkins Reid
    Jarvis Poyet Noble Page
    Payet Lee Maiga
    subs
    Randolph
    Oxford
    Cullen
    Obiang
    Amalfitano
    Kouyate
    Parfitt-Williams

  5. Looks like Lee & Minga upfront,oh dear,not happy days 😉

  6. I wouldn’t trust Maiga. I would rather play Samuelsen off Lee, after his great goal and game on Saturday. He can play the same way Zarate plays ; with some freedom.

  7. Shows again the need for forward back up ,on a seperate note I see that glass ankle may not be back until mid September!! However much I want to see AC prove the doubters including me wrong the cost to the club is ridiculous for nigh on minimal return, we can disagree about Destro,Austin or Hernandez but all 3 would be an upgrade on AC at present because they might have the ability of doing something he doesn’t seem able to do and actually play more than 10 games a season..

  8. Lee and Magia up top with Samuelsen just behind in a role Downing played last year
    Poyet and Alfitanobehind them,
    JOB,Burke,Tomkins and Hendrie
    Any Keeper
    Cullen,Oxford,Page,Obiang,keeper,Jarvis
    My team
    Back to Bunker
Hope Zarate is not going to spend year playing the sick note game,

  9. I suppose the only way Slav makes a decision on Maiga or any player come to that is by giving him a go,although I’d guess that as we’re in the market for a striker suggests his mind is nearly made up.
As for AC I’ve just seen the September news…….déjà vu sadly.

    • Unfortunately those Deja Vu’s are costing £80k per week makes him unsellable in transfer window and minimises any transfer fee in the future… An unwise investment in a man with a mediocre goal scoring record yet there are those that question Hernandez lol

    • All very true GW can’t see how we get out of it though unless we send him to a Mystic healer lol……be fair about this Hernandez fella,it’s not like he’s ever played for anyone good or scored a decent amount of goals, mainly from the bench. We should show true ambition go all out for Crouch,Wickham or try to persuade CC to come back.

      • Yeah he has minimal talent this Hernandez fella, minimal movement, minimal work rate, minimal stamina only scores tap in’s… Thank god for WHTID and the gurus we must avoid him like the plague and talk Zigic out of retirement or make a bid for Wickham lol

      • Totally agr……442,352,4231……0.2978 goals per game…….careful what you wish for….fold in lightly for best results……it’s not funny it’s really serious……leave to cool on a baking rack…..4141,433……state aid is the main worry……aarrgghh!!! I don’t know what’s happening to me,I’m being dragged down by something…

  10. Interesting to see Oxford, Cullen and Lee all included in the squad for Friday’s friendly against Chelmsford, hope Nolan doesn’t get a sniff tomo night
