West Ham have been counting down their fifty greatest Hammers on the official website and social media channels over the past two months.
It is not clear who voted for and how they came up with the positions of 11-50 but they are now giving West Ham supporters a chance to vote on the top ten to decide the final order.
The final ten is Alan Devonshire, Alvin Martin, Billy Bonds, Bobby Moore, Frank Lampard Sr, Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters, Phil Parkes, Sir Trevor Brooking and Vic Watson.
We all know that Bobby Moore usually wins these things which why it would be nice to honour Billy Bonds in the number one spot for once to give him the recognition he deserves as he often overshadowed by his former team mate.
Billy Bonds spent 27 years as player and manager. He played 793 first-team games for West Ham and holds the club appearance record in a career spanning 21 seasons which included being crowed Hammer of the year four times.

always feel these exercises are pointless because in my opinion Bobby is far and away the greatest of all Hammers and arguably the greatest English player of all time. If you don’t believe me just ask the next greatest Billy Bonds. I feel grateful that I was able to watch both at their peak along with Geoff, Martin, Trevor, Dev and Budgie.
Nailed it 54
Given the dreaded curse of “Hammer of the Year”, for a player to win it four times is some achievement – the only player I can recall winning it more than once was Scott Parker
Mooro (who I never saw) and Bonzo (who I did see) were both legends
Since football is a game of 11 players maybe we don’t really need a number 1 – just honour both of them
Sorry Sean but Bobby is my greatest hammer, Brooking is imho the second best, Bonzo is third for me.
It will always be bobby Moore, Trevor brooking, Billy bonds for me, in that order. Don’t know how Paulo dicanio is not in the top ten though since the vast majority of West Ham fans I know seem to name him as one of their all time greatest players.
Well said 54 the general was the best i have seen But john budgie byrne was my boyhood hero how good could he have been if he had not broken his leg
