In a surprising turn of events, Manchester City have released young defender Jamal Baptiste after just one year at the club.

Last summer, West Ham youngster Baptiste joined Manchester City in a move that received little attention.

West Ham had high hopes for Baptiste, considering him a promising talent and offering him a professional contract.
He was even compared to Rio Ferdinand by academy coach Carlton Cole.

However, Baptiste’s progress stalled due to off-field issues, leading to his disappearance from the West Ham scene.

When it was announced that City had signed Baptiste, some questioned West Ham’s decision to let him go.

Now, after just one year at City, Baptiste has been released again.

While unfortunate for Baptiste, West Ham might feel some relief that they no longer have to worry about a potential mistake in letting him go.

Baptiste’s future remains unclear. The Premier League’s official released players list confirms his departure from City.

Previously, Baptiste denied rumours of disciplinary issues causing his disappearance from West Ham. He attributed it to illness and Guillain-Barre syndrome.

We can only wish Baptiste the best as he tries to get his career back on track.

May be due to his condition but in general our academy products don’t make it to premiership starting eleven quality regardless of wherever it is they go.

  • Pessimist says:

I have read some where that the lad was ill during his time at West Ham and Mr Sullivan very kindly let him see his private doctor and he found out he had an ongoing condition, which was some kind of syndrome..
