Paqueta: Will he or won’t he!

Manchester City look set to press on with a move for Lucas Paqueta this week after losing Kevin De Bruyne to injury.

The Man City star hobbled off against Burnley – and with the early prognosis not thought to be positive – Paqueta may well become an even greater priority than previously.

City have already made a bid for the Hammers creative star but the Irons will not be selling for less than £80 million according to what Claret and Hugh has learned from sources.

Reporting the situation talkSPORT understands West Ham are not confident of keeping Paqueta, knowing there are two clubs to whom it is almost impossible to say no without causing issues with the wanted players.

Paqueta was again in fine form against Bournemouth yesterday giving a good all round performance and hitting the post with a late shot which would have won the Irons the game.

Meanwhile, City have no plans to sell Bernardo Silva this transfer window, despite strong interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

West Ham have more power over this situation than most think. We all know there’s a release clause with a £85m price tag which can be triggered next summer, but Paqueta has a five year contract expiring in 2028. So if City want him now, they’ll have to cough up more than that. Otherwise he stays until July.

Don’t sell- whatever price. Make him play another 12 months. Can see us really struggling without him.

If his head’s been turned by City then let him go. There’s enough time in the window to get in a decent replacement and doubling money in one season would be good business.
I’d just give the extra cash to the new director of football to spend, oh yeah we should change the manager asap too!

Almost inevitable he will go, new agent in the summer so wants his nice juicy bonus too!
Demand £85m which is his release clause next summer and off we go on the transfer mad merry go round!
