Manchester United may have found a solution to their midfield dilemma thanks to West Ham’s interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka. It is being reported this morning that the hierarchy at Old Trafford is looking to include Edson Alvarez in any transfer for Wan-Bissaka.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester club is interested in Hammer Alvarez after his impressive debut season in East London following his £34m transfer. The Mexican is well known to Man U manager Erik ten Hag, with the pair having worked together previously.
Ten Hag has stated publicly that he enjoys reuniting with players he has worked with in the past, and the Irons’ midfielder fits that criteria after spending three seasons working with the Dutchman-old at Ajax.
The precise finances of the deal have not been included in any of the reports, which could suggest that there is nothing to the story whatsoever. However, it’s quite clear that the valuations between Wan-Bissaka and Alvarez would be vast.
There is no way we’re gonna trade Edson Alvarez for anybody he was arguably our best player last season, let alone trade him in for obi wan bassska
Aren’t ManU trying to buy Ugarte from PSG? Holding midfielder isn’t he? Can’t see them wanting Ugarte plus Alvarez somehow
I’d like a villa on the outskirts of Sienna, but that’s not happening either. Keep wishing Man utd.
Yep, more bulls***
No way. We need Alvarez he was a bit rash but would not like to lose him at all!! Would rather kyle walker Peters from Southampton if that was the case swap deal only
Agree with keeping Alvarez.
He is OTT with rash tackling and bookings something JLo needs to sort.
Moyes signing yes but second season could provide a more mature player.
Last time Wan-Bissaka was coming to whu Man Utd decided to play silly buggers and he never came.
At one time he was told to find another club.
Now they’ve come up with a swap deal, not a good idea.
Time to switch back to KWP, straight buy.
If all this isn’t more fairytale news then I tend to agree with Paul.
Only problems are with Kante are 20 million is far too much seeing as they got him on a free, his wages are enormous and he was injury prone his last seasons at Chelsea. We don’t know how he fared at the sportswashing club. They didn’t win the league with all these players.
The other guy has rarely impressed me and he too is on huge wages.
If we are set on getting him though I’d say him and 40 million on top for Alvarez. they want to pull our pants down by offering peanuts, yet are willing to pay way over the top for untested players.
I hate ManU as it is and do we really want the toxic environment brought here?
No chance would never happen give them there 17M for bissaka and move on
This sounds like bull**** but on the off chance of any truth here it at least rules out our pursuit of Wan Bissaka because it is a non starter.
With all due respect to the article , has there been , or even sought , any confirmation from our club itself on the validity of this information or is just another unfounded rumour being circulated as in my own opinion Claret & Hugh used to be a website that could be trusted in the past to have some degree of accuracy above that of other sites but more recently I’m not so sure that it hasn’t reduced to just been unsubstantiated gossip ?
Here we go again, retirement home, just stop looking at 33yrs old.
We’d need at least 2 Bisakas for Alvarez, not just Wan Bisaka. If that’s the way it’s going then forget about the United player. Keep Alvarez and abandon Moyes’ ways of aquiring has-beens on high wages with low sell-on value.
The squad as it currently stands is 23 and cannot be larger than 25.
If we’re bringing in more than two then someone we already have needs to go somewhere.
Not suggesting at all that needs to be Alvarez but it sure looks like someone/s need to go.
We need to build round Alvarez. Spent all last season protecting an awful centre of defence and getting bookings for our inability to retain the ball. His passing and composure are what we need.
I would be very upset . Kante is 34 in March . he’d been injured for nearly two years at Chelsea before going to Saudi . he will be in huge wages and a transfer fee for him of any sort is ludicrous . Wan Bissaka is marginally better than Coufal
Alvarez can improve after playing one PL season . these are David Moyes transfers, buying other teams duds and taking on elderly players who want big money . loading our team big wage bill
Danny Ings was meant to be Sullivan’s signing, but an old dud of a player . I was hoping West Ham with Tim Steidten were past all these stupid signings
scout our own players fresh and only sell a quality or better player if it suits us
not swap Wan Bissaka plus a small fee for a player who needs a second season to come good
Wasn’t personally overwhelmed with Alvarez last season. Bit rash, unable to recover as he’s not quick and regularly plays large minutes already on a booking. If we can get Wan-Bissaka, Kante cover for a couple of years and some cash for Alvarez, at a time when the squad overhaul required far exceeds our budget, I wouldn’t be upset.
You must have been watching a different player to me , so stop talking out of it,
I agree
As were apparently looking to agree £20 million for Kante aged 33 whose worth is about £5 million due to his age it appears we’re abandoning search for young players and looking to sell Alvarez
