Manchester United could make summer room for Lingard

Manchester United could make room in their squad to include Jessee Lingard this summer after his terrific form at West Ham.

A report by Caught Offside has suggested that Juan Mata will finally be moved on this summer after he’s been little more than a fringe player for a few years, and his spot in the squad will go to Lingard.

Lingard on loan from the Red Devils has shown some man of the match performances for the Hammers with three goals in four games.

His confidence is well and truly back and he seems to be enjoying his time in East London.

West Ham paid Manchester United a £1.5m loan fee, £2.5m in wages with the potential of a £500,000 bonus if the Hammers qualify for Europe but there was no option to buy with the Premier League club insisting they wanted to keep him.

That could cost the Irons £4.5m by the season end but it has been worth it already.  With just 12 months remaining on his contract, this summer Lingard might have other ideas by insisting he would rather be a regular starter for West Ham than a bit part squad player for Manchester United.

Just because Man U might ‘make room’ for Jesse doesn’t necessarily mean that he would like to go backwards and take his chance sitting on the bench at Old Trafford. He might prefer to play football in a style that is appreciated by the management and supporters of West Ham. This would also showcase Jesse to contend for an England place if he has ambition to play for England again. Move on, Jesse. Better the Devil you know. You’ve already had your assessment as a future Red Devil. Becoming synonymous with Irons success is going to be a wonderful life.
